The staff here is helpful, kind, and it is very clear that they have a passion for what they do. Made the adoption process easy and simple.
Bonnie & the Staff/Volunteers at the Gander SPCA do their very best to care for the animals. Every time I have been into the shelter it is clean and tidy. They are friendly and good at what they do! Keep up the great work, its not easy taking care of so many animals.
The adoption process, though understandably thorough, can be slightly limiting. Especially considering that you're applying to give them money that you're not going to get back for an animal they were just telling you needed a home SOOO badly. Don't get me wrong, I know it costs money for them to keep the animals and care for them, but just because you've moved I to a new place in the past 4 months, that doesn't make you unable to care for a pet. If your references are all good and you can afford to get the animal then I don't see why you won't be allowed to get it based on the amount of time you've been in one specific residence.
Here’s a letter I wrote the humane society explaining the circumstances of our cat. Hi my name is Cheri Collins and I live inSummerford Newfoundland. I’m hoping that you can help me or guide me to someone that can. My 11 year old daughter Jami’s cat went missing on April 7, 2019. For days my daughter and I and other friends and family were walking the streets calling his name and knocking on doors trying to find him. On April 12 I made a public post on Facebook pleading for help in bringing Shadow back home to us. Jami has been heartbroken and having trouble sleeping since his disappearance. Her 11th birthday was on the 15th and her birthday wish was for her best friend Shadow to come home. Through a couple of friends of friends we were informed that Shadow was residing at the Gander SPCA. On the morning of April 20th I contacted the SPCA and they informed me that our cat was there. All we had to do was pay the $100 through the snip program and Shadow could come home to us. We live in a small community that is approximately an hour and twenty minutes away from Gander. Having three other children I had to arrange babysitters for when they arrived from school and also arrange transportation because I didn’t have a vehicle my husband was in a car accident where our car was beat up. We started our trip so we could make it before they closed at 4:00pm. On our way we had vehicle troubles flat tire so I knew we were pressed for time. At 3:45 I called into the SPCA but there was no answer so I left a message saying I was 10 minutes away and I will definitely be there to get our cat. I kept calling and calling right up until I arrived at Gander. We pulled into the parking lot at 4:01. I called again and rang the doorbell but nobody answered once again. I called the number that was listed for animal control hoping they could help me. I spent all of this money and time and for the sake of one minute I did not want to disappoint my daughter because she was so excited. Ten minutes later a worker or volunteer came out of the buildingnot sure which so I was relieved that finally someone could help me. I tried asking her if I could get my cat but she completely ignored me. So I tried talking to her again and she got so defensive and angry and said she was calling the RCMP for harassment. I told her my little girl is excited about having her best friend come home and I didn’t want to disappoint her. The lady just got in her vehicle and drove away. I was devastated thinking to myself how can someone working with these precious animals could be so heartless. So I went home and explained to Jami what happened. After a few tears she was ok knowing Shadow was safe and we will get him the next day. The next morning at approximately 9:30am the gander SPCA called me and said that we couldn’t have Shadow anymore. Also the RCMP were called and we were not permitted to visit the SPCA anymore. The RCMP has not contacted me at all My daughter Jami and shadow had a special bond. They slept together every night. Jami is a shy girl, very quiet and therefore finds it hard making friends. Shadow was her best friend. He was well taken care of as our other petspast and present have been. Due to illness we have struggled financially so we can’t afford to have our pets spayed or neutered but that doesn’t mean they are not loved. I have 2 dogs ages 6 and 7 and they are like our children. In lieu of this letter I was hoping you could help me or tell me what rights we have. Can they refuse to give us our cat over a misunderstanding that has nothing to do with the well being of the cat. Our home is the only one Shadow has known. My daughter has been crying and praying every night for his safe return. Why should she be punished in the harshest way for doing nothing other than loving her cat unconditionally. Can you please help me or point me in the direction of someone who can. I can’t bear to watch Jami be sad another day.PLEASE SHARE!!
This place stole a families cat that had gotten out, when they showed up to retrieve him and pay the fee, they wouldn’t give him back and is now trying to adopt him out nugget is that name they’ve given the cat, absolutely disgusting behaviour.

I bought a Christmas tree, still the staff was friendly and efficient
