First off I'd like to thank your team, both in the office & the fitters involved for a thoroughly professional fitment of our windows & doors throughout our house. The office staff along with Glen & Mark were very friendly & helpful & all of the fitters were courteous, industrious, clean & tidy. A highly recommended installer of windows!!!
Avoid at all costs! The finishing was awful with cracks around the windows, left with cold spots and very bad condensation. Feels like a constant battle, constantly being spoken to like a child, very unprofessional. They came out and “fixed” one of our windows and charged us £50 for the trouble even though the installer said it should have been done at the installation stage! Been going on for over a year now and we have resorted to fixing them ourselves. These pictures speak a thousand words.. ** Edit based on Polar Bears response** We’re genuinely shocked you are surprised and disappointed by a negative review, all you need to do is read our email interaction to see us specifically call out our problems over and over again. And also us calling out we don’t appreciate being spoken to how we were being spoken to. You say you came out in 2020 to help, an engineer came out and told us it was because we had 2 plants in our room. And we were provided with a dehumidifier which did not help. Nor did you even follow up and see yourselves if it had even helped. We were then told it wasn’t the windows, it was our “house” so you said you would remove the window to check our walls and would charge us £150. This was never done. You then came and fixed the cracks on one of the windows and charged us £50 for it, which I can only assume means that you are quite happy with the finish provided in the photos. Your installer even told us it should have been done. We have recently had a new heating system installed which included in depth property survey and no issues were raised about out cavity walls or insulation. The propose for this review is so no one else makes the mistake of using your company, I don’t even want a response any more, we’ve payed to put right your terrible service
I signed a contract with Polar Bear Windows in June and within eight weeks my windows were installed. I found the staff to be extremely helpful and very willing to help in every way. Scaffolding was needed and they coordinated it all. There was a problem with some brickwork and they also organised that too. They all went over and beyond what I expected. I cannot recommend them enough!! - Adams, Bristol
Absolutely delighted that we chose Polar Bear Windows. The the girls in the Office were very friendly, efficient & helpful. We were kept informed from start to finish of dates, times etc. Our fitters were Dan & Mike. They were on time, very pleasant, efficient & professional. They respected us & our home. Everything was left clean & tidy. Mark fitted a different handle a few days later & he was also very pleasant, efficient & professional. All staff a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely recommend Polar Bear. Thank you .
Excellent company to work with from start to finish. The team in the office were polite and helpful. Our quote for new Bi-Fold doors was competitive and realistic. We were kept informed of the process throughout and when our new doors were ready we were offered new installation dates which we were unfortunately unable to take up. The installation team were excellent, smart and tidy workers who worked quickly and efficiently. Leaving the work clean and tidy afterwards. Through no fault of Polar Bears we were missing a small end cap 2x right sided supplied they kept us informed and arranged a replacement which was fitted within days. I'd have no hesitation working with them again or recommending to others.
What would I recommend about Polar Bear? Don Collins. Like many building companies and projects, our conservatory project has been hit by many delays and issues, many caused by the supply issues due to covid. I'd all but given up. But then Don Collins got involved and significant progress has been made. Don is friendly and very knowledgeable, he does not accept below par work whilst also being realistic, and he fills the gap between customer expectation and Polar Bear customer service. I am very much looking forwards to having the job fully finished, and when it is I know Don will have done us and Polar great service.
We went with Polar Bear Windows as the reviews online seemed positive. We were having our whole house twelve windows and a front door, back door and patio doors. The job was supposed to last four days, in June. It was eventually finished at the end of November. We experienced issues from Day 1, when the fitters showed up and told us most of the glass was not ready, and they would only be able to fit a few windows on Day 1, but the job would remain on schedule. However, on Day 2, the fitters arrived and told us that although the glass was now ready, a strap had broken in their van and most of the glass they were supposed to be fitting had either chipped, cracked or smashed. This was still fitted and left in place for months whilst the glass was remade/ The glass being replaced left scratches and gouges on the frames and beading of pretty much every window. Mess was left in the garden and on the roof for months. It was eventually cleared after We repeatedly asked. The bedroom window was incorrectly labelled as lounge, and as the old window had already been removed in the bedroom, it was forced into place, breaking the frame in the process. The glass therefore did not match the window frame so it was siliconed into place with bits of trim to fill gaps. The fitters came back to re-fit the remade window following this mistake, but the wrong window had been remade! The glass, frames, sills and trims were left around our house and in the garage for months as various things like the glass which had been smashed and the window which was incorrectly labelled were remade, which caused a great inconvenience with navigating around them. A number of the windows had the wrong sills supplied, which lead to windows needing to be refitted. Removing, replacing and refitting the window, and the refitting of all smashed glass left further scratches and gouges in the frame and beading. The fitters came around four to five times to repair or replace various issues, and had brought the wrong item e.g. bevelled beading not flat beading. Five pieces of our picture rail were disposed of by the fitters, and when we raised the issue, it was ignored for months. When it was eventually addressed, they refused to fully pay for the damage, instead offering a good will gesture. Our wooden window sill has also been left with a large section removed, which was ignored. The office staff are uncommunicative and rude, and I would not recommend using this company.
Absolutely abysmal after service. Currently on my 3rd door supplied by PBL. All have had manufacturing faults. Well over a year trying to get the latest door changed, with no success. No one wants to take ownership, no one calls back/ emails when they promise to, no one is remotely interested in making this situation right. Attitude of some staff is awful, like this is in some way my fault. Would absolutely not recommend
Abysmal service as per lots of others on here . Workmen turning up smelling of booze. Workmen having to borrow my tools as they did not attend with their own . Seals on doors and windows failed , numerous return visits and no improvements made , windows incorrectly fitted , I could go on, you get the idea. Avoid
Efficient and polite customer service combined with quality products & good prices. Since my last review, I have now had a new front door & side panels installed and a new back door. Both were expertly fitted and the front door just needed a slight adjustment and lubrication after a couple of weeks, which Polar Bear windows performed quickly and efficiently. I submitted the design shown to Polar Bear with the far right split coloured panels being non-standard. My customised request could initially not be accommodated because of the way the moulded panels were constructed, but with some careful thought and cutting, what I asked for was supplied. I am very pleased with the finished doors especially having received so many compliments about how attractive the new front door is. I can recommend Polar Bear Windows as a good example of a local company that offers a nice range of good quality products backed up by an efficient and friendly level of service.
