Had a wonderful experience , the food was so good. I can't wait to come back and get more!!!
Came here on a stormy night in December and was not disappointed! My wife and I shared a warm pretzel with Weissbier cheese, Spätzle with roasted hazelnuts, smoked gouda & asparagus and Schweinshaxe washed down with a few Edingers. Everything was delicious and served piping hot. The sweet "bad boy" butter and the Weissbier cheese went along great with the authentic pretzel as appetizers. The Spätzle was creamy and rich and a great on a winter night. Having previously had Schweinshaxe at Hofbrauhaus & Haxnbauer in Munich I wasn't sure what to expect from a new spot in Halifax but was not disappointed in the least. The crispy outer skin was crunchy and full of flavor and the melt in your mouth meat underneath went great with a balanced sauce and sweet braised apple to add some sweetness to each bite. Chef was able to take a moment to come out and chat with us about the restaurant and their inspirations which was also great ! Also have lots of Vegetarian options which I don't always expect from German restaurants. Only thing I would change would be to add some bright bulbs down the stairs to the bathroom down as they were a little dark ! Will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: Lots of Vegetarian options on the menu!
Totally walkable, large open dining room with chill music and art all around. Short but full menu! We tried lots of dishes and had a great experience
Excellent fare at prices that are so low! As a local who wants to see this place succeed I honestly & highly recommend you raise your prices. Word on the street is this place is the next big thing so be there or be square. Also everything Chef Ian makes is out of this world good.
The best Schnitzel I ever had and the flavours for the Bratwurst were amazing. Excellent German beer and attentive staff. My friend and I were the only ones in the restaurant at the time so the chef, Ian, came out and chatted with us. He explained how he cooked the food. He is clearly knowledgeble and passionate about his craft. If you are in the downtown area give this place a try.
Had a lovely meal at PMQ last night. Food was well prepared, as good as my mother's - authentic! Very pleasant service and nice surroundings. Highly recommend!
Flavours were good. But that’s it. Not worth the price. We paid $86 for 1 piece of meat each.. one of which could’ve easily been made at home. The schnitzel was dry and did not come with any sides at all. Rouladen was 90% red cabbage and 10% meat that wasn’t even cooked the way rouladen should be cooked. Like I said flavours were good but that’s all. It would be worth the price if there was actual sides given with the meat.
Very nice experience last weekend. Pretzle and spatzle stole the show for sure! Great menu and very grateful for vegan friendly options..Service was good, some nerves and kinks to work out knowledge wise with the servers, and we did find the beers to be poured a bit inconsistently. We also found the place very very cold which did affect the overall dining experience. Can't wait to revisit again in the future though! Very happy to have German feast available.
Had the pretzel, schnitzel and spätzle. Everything was amazing and tasted very authentic. Service was very friendly.Food: 5/5
Myself and my partner heard of PMQ through the Halifax grapevine quite some time ago and have been eagerly awaiting for them to open. We started off with the Pretzel and some Erdinger Weissbier cheese for dipping , the Pretzel was one the best we've had in Halifax. For our mains we had the Schnitzle with the creamy wild mushroom gravy, Spiced braised pork hock with crispy crackling, roasted apples and onion cream, and to accompay our meals the Spatzel with asparagus, garlic, smoked gouda cheese and toasted hazelnuts. The portions were fare, everything seasoned and cooked to perfection. Super traditional German food with a little bit of flare. We were also very impressed by the all German beer tap selection. I'd also like to mention that there were plenty of thought out vegan options as well! Very excited to head back for more of the menu in the near future. Dietary restrictions: Vegan options
