I love going to this cafe/bakery when I'm visiting Nova Scotia. It provides a peaceful spot to read and enjoy excellent coffee/baked goods. It is worth the drive but you might want to call first to make sure they are open in the off season. I also appreciate their business principles. Parking: Lots of parking nearby the location.
Ploughman’s is a true gem. Friendly service and love-infused food in a comfortably vintage setting. Top-notch homemade bread, pastries, chocolate, sandwiches and coffee, with a fine selection of staples and treats to boot.
Omg how awesome of a find was this place?! A must go to if you’re in the area. Delicious lunch. Buffalo milk cheese, to-die-for homemade croissants and ice cream, old fashioned milkshakes I’m not one for milkshakes but I’m so glad I opted for this as my splurge treat! It’s kind of like stepping back in time. Loved it!
Absolutely the best pastry around. Great pork sandwich on home made bun, delicious. Lovely old store ambiance. Well worth the trip from Halifax.Food: 5/5
This is my favourite little restaurant in all of Nova Scotia. Just so much to love! The delicious food, the atmosphere, friendly staff, vintage record music, location close to Rissers and Crescent beach, interesting groceries etc.
we came for breakfast and were delighted with the quality of everything we had, from the coffee, to the breakfast sandwiches with and without meat, pains au chocolate, cinnamon bun and Kouign Amman, a Breton pastry that is a very special treat. don't miss the homemade chocolates! service is friendly and there are tables in the front and the back, as well as seats at the bar inside.
The smoked meat sandwich is exceptionally good, so are the croissants, cookies, bread and everything else I tried. The selection of teas could probably be improved a bit, there is good tea out there! Was nice to eat food out of English porcelain after two weeks of camping. Thanks for that.
Honestly one of the best croissants I've had in a long time. I'm not sure where some of the negative reviews are coming from because they are not accurate at all. Parking: Roadside and small lot
Delicious sandwiches and coffee. Also had a home-made carrot cake soft serve ice cream which was super tasty. The owners are really friendly too.
While the food was excellent, the establishment was extremely dirty. There was a fly trap full of bugs hanging in the middle of the cafe, the table was dirty/sticky and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while, the bathroom was also not clean and smelled musty. While the staff seemed nice, we weren’t greeted at all when we came in. With that said, the porchetta sandwich was, without a doubt, one of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had. My partner ordered the same thing and agreed We did find it strange that it was served on tea saucers, as this was not really sufficient for catching crumbs.
