The open deck overlooking Lake Ponderosa is so spectacular. The entire concept is so unique and offers a dining experience you can’t get anywhere else in Central Iowa. However, the food was mediocre, they were understaffed and it took over an hour to get a salad and burger. We had to go to the bar to reorder drinks. The staff were friendly & working hard. I really want this business to be successful. I will give them another chance.
The menu is basic, but the food was good, and our service was excellent. We had burgers, fries, and cheese curds, and everything was well-prepared and good. The "flat" fries were particularly excellent. Our server was great, and took good care of us. There were quite a few flies buzzing around, which always sucks, but otherwise, all was good.
What a total train wreck……came twice over the weekend. Gave them lots of grace yesterday when it was busy and short staffed. Horrible service and literally could not get a drink or food. Arrived today Sunday, not busy and still no one working and one cook. Took over an hour and a half to get a simple food order. Couldn’t get drinks and it was not even busy. Absolutely zero leadership here to manage this place. I hear the owners are no where involved with this place and it clearly shows. They need to desperately fix these issues or it will close. I saw people grabbing their own drinks for free and not paying and total free for all. If you are going to own a restaurant you have got to be involved. I do not recommend coming here at all.
We each had a simple order, burgers and fries/cheese balls. Burgers were amazing, fries were really good and cheese balls were good as well. No social distancing or masks enforced, which is fine to me personally but not everybody. The mosquitoes are usually fine at the lake as well but they were out tonight in full force, without anything really to prevent them outside on the patio. Fresh air is appreciated and still worth it for sure could have sat inside but a tiki torch or another repellent would be the icing on the cake.
