Not been here for over a year but it's had a refresh and looks better than ever. Staff is great, happy and smiling, and very attentive. Wife had tater tots with BBQ pulled pork and I had the Friday fish n chips dinner, with a difference. Broiled fish and sweet potato fries. Appetizers were great too. Couldn't eat everything so we get leftovers tomorrow. It has the best views across the Mississippi to the Wisconsin bluffs, a perfect backdrop to a lovely meal.
A serene mom n pop on a backwater major waterfowl flyway. The food is time tested great. The loaded tater tot concoctions and libations made me understand that I would be back every change of season.
Really nice place, makes a mean Old Fashioned, and in the immortal words of Garth, “they got a pool table too!”
Went to the Pioneer for Mother's Day had the beer battered walleye Pike sandwich with fries.Great atmosphere and Lakeside
The food was great. The service could really use some work. The waitress seemed angry the whole time. I do love that when dining inside the view of the water was so beautiful.
A bit slow. The staff were overwhelmed and could have used more help.

The window was closed so we went inside for pur drinks. The stairs from the river are a bit treacherous, so be careful!
Went there for an early dinner on a Sunday. Not busy at all. 3 tables filled in dining room. Waited 10 minutes as people stocked coolers and 3 employees went by us. Finally asked the couple sitting next to us how do you get a drink? They stated you have to yell…. They then told a young woman these people are going to leave…she just stood there and said “Um” and looked around. I guess the pioneer didn’t want the service. Pretty disappointed and left. I’ll spend my money elsewhere.
