Stopped and bought some sandwiches and headed over to park hoping for a nice spot to picnic. We found many options, and alot of variety of covered picnic areas and restrooms. Spots next to water and place to rent paddle boats and kayaks.
If you don’t enjoy the scenic views in this park, you may want to find yourself a good eye doctor.
A great camping and rv park. All facilities are always in a clean condition. Easy access to the river, walking and biking trails.
Beautiful little windy on today but the view is amazing
Love this park. Gorgeous scenery, see deer, able to hear wild turkeys, a lot of areas for picnics, trails to explore, water to enjoy and a nice campground.
Make sure you check out the Mary Lundby Bridge. It crosses the Wapsipinicon river here. This park offers an observation tower, picnic shelters, camping, lodges to rent, wide open space for relaxation, plenty of parking available. Including handicapped spaces. A wildlife exhibition near the front entrance. A boat rental office. Cabins to rent. Playground. You can boat, walk, throw Frisbee, fish here. Winter sports too. A great family friendly park. In my opinion of course. Playground: Modern. Clean. Safe. Family friendly. Restrooms: I'm sure the majority of them are now closed since it's nearly winter. Most are pit or vault toilets. Dog-friendliness: As long as they are leashed Dogs are welcome here. Picnic area: Many shelters have picnic tables available. But I have seen other tables scattered throughout the park. Many near a grill.
There has been a lot of renovation lately. Since the last time I came, a huge picnic shelter with countertops and electric outlets, making it the perfect place for large group gatherings. They also made a nice new playground, with soft pad ground with a river and land theme, nature themed climbing structures, and a cool zipline thing. There is a shelter that you can reserve at the top of a designated sledding hill, as well as an elk enclosure. During the summer, there is a tower that you can climb to get a better view. However, at a trailhead there is an old, dilapidated sign that has not been replaced.
I absolutely love this part! It has everything you need for a wonderful camping trip or day trip. It has nicely groomed and extensive hiking trails, boat rental for canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats, a shuttle up for two or four hour long canoe trips, a wonderful biking trail that goes into nearby Central City, four camping areas with everything from primitive group camps to RV camping to a variety of nicely appointed and modernized cabins at affordable prices. The campground playground is one of the best playgrounds we have ever been at with really neat and unique play features that my kids absolutely love. It also has an observation tower which I believe is the highest point in Linn County. All in all it's a great place to camp; it'll keep your kids and you entertained for days at a time and it is one of my favorite spots.
One of my favorite places. I've boated the Wapsi my whole life, and love going through the park. Great fishing, camping, and the cleanest campground around. Awesome trail system. I go there to find peace and have always succeeded.
Beautiful shelter, and beautiful park. We attended my niece's wedding and reception, it was beautiful.
