Played the very walkable 18 hole Executive Course today. The fairways and greens were in good condition. The tee boxes need some work still and the ground is tough. Overall, a very fun afternoon. Took approximately 3.5 hours to complete the round walking today.
Being it my first time at this course, the experience was awesome... from the customer service extended during booking to the obvious care taken in the maintenance of the course. I played the Executive course both Saturday and Sunday, and even though the holes were all Par 3 and 4, they were all challenging. I would definitely recommend it to anyone passing through Ottawa.
I have logged more than 150 rounds here. Member for 2 seasons. Overall: Pine View is a superb track whose appealing layout and staff make for an enjoyable golf experience Highlights 1 36 holes - you never get bored, and tee-times are plentiful 2 Staff - they are fantastic!!! 3 Greens - after they get sanded/aerated in early summer, they're solid 4 Layout - large fairways with well-guarded greens ensures that the course is a pleasure to play, regardless of skill-level. Needs work 1 Fairways - amongst the lot of them there are a significant number of little muddy pits, drainage troughs, and areas w/o grass. 2 Tee boxes - a handful of them are noticeably uneven and/or lack the flat, fairway-like lie you would expect from a tee-box. Personal Peeves 1 Bunkers - I have never played a course that sets up their bunkers like Pine View. Instead of the entire bunker being smooth, or having a raked interior with smooth edges aussie style, many of the bunkers here have a smooth interior with raked edges. As a result, bunker-bound shots get stuck near the bunker lips with a noticeably high frequency. I think it is unnecessarily punitive. 2 Driving range - mats are the only thing you can hit off of, and that's just a thumbs down in my books.
We have been playing indoor golf at Pineview on a regular basis. Peter and the girls who work there are nothing short of fantastic! You can expect reasonable pricing, prompt friendly service and an overall positive experience. Thank you for providing such a welcoming and fun environment.
Live nearby and play here often because of the convenience. I’m getting a membership this year, but not at Pine View, for the same reasons you’ll see in other sub-optimal comments. I’ve always been happy with the course conditions. East Ottawa is all clay, so rain stays on top and the course suffers on wet days, but I know to expect that and it’s not a maintenance issue. But the pace of play is egregiously slow. Plan for a 5 hour round on the Championship, and plan 3.5-4 hours for the Executive which defeats the purpose of it being an executive. Tee times are stacked to tightly, and made worse by terrible course management from the Marshalls. +4 stars for the course condition and design. -1 star for a consistently terrible pace of play. -1 star in response to something I will never respect; management personnel replying to negative reviews Karen-style arrogant, derogatory, and oblivious. Reading the owner’s replies to comments here has finalized my decision to get a membership elsewhere.
Was a member for the ‘22 golf season. I think the big thing that I wish was made clearer, is that you can’t golf on Tuesday and Wednesday unless you pay extra and join the league night. Felt like I was paying a lot of money to only ever golf the executive course. I also found the Marshalls to be non existent for the most part. If they aren’t going to enforce any type of pace of play, then they should have longer intervals than 8 minutes. The amount of times I had an exec round over 4 hours. Or a champ round over 5 was pretty frustrating. Pretty surprised reading some of the responses from the business saying this doesn’t happen, or that they monitor this. Was waiting at each tee box for a while almost every time we played. Very long rounds at Pineview. Needs to be addressed.
We had our wedding at Pine View and they were great to deal with. Pine View and By Town catering work together hand in hand to make things run smoothly. Ben answered all my questions I planned everything on my own so I had very little knowledge of how to plan a wedding etc.. It is a great spot for a reception or if you want to have both the ceremony and reception as well as pictures all at the same place. Thanks Pine View! S&S.
Great value for your money. New owners constantly making improvements on the course. 36 holes of Golf with easy access off the 417 hwy.
Today was my first time playing at Pineview this year with 3 other women. To start, there was a frost delay. While waiting to tee off, we were approached by the marshal: “ are you novice players? The 4 of us all looked at each other and responded “no we are intermediate players.“ He responded “You all look like novice players, not because your girls tho.” We reassured that wasn’t the case. He told us to make sure we are keeping up with the speed of the game and felt the need to re-iterate “not because you’re girls“. Right off the bat, we feel very unwelcome, surrounded by judgemental men. We finally tee off, we’re rushing through the 1st hole due to the frost delay, everything is backed up. Already we are waiting, due to the 4 men ahead of us moving slowly. 2nd hole the marshal is hovering around us, following our every hit. By the 3rd hole, the Marshall approached us and tells us “ it’s backed up behind you, you need to play best ball “. We responded that it was unfair that we are targeted like this, we are not playing best ball we paid like everyone else. Pointing out that it was very evident the foursome ahead of us slowing things down but of course they felt the need to tell us the group of women that it’s us causing the back up and needing to speed it up. At this point we haven’t even started the 3rd hole, the group behind us now caught up and told us that we are playing quick and not holding anything back for them. Following this the marshal drove off and left us alone… still not addressing the group ahead to speed up. Throughout the 18 holes we were continuously waiting. This ruined our hole game. We were treated with a lack of respect from the start, prejudice assumptions based on our gender and somehow novice looking appearance. Seeing other reviews now, we can confirm this is not the most female friendly course. Although this is a very nice golf course, I cannot say that I would be willing to recommend this to other women or any other players. This does not mean we will not return, it’s too bad todays experience didn’t reflect how we see the game of golf - a welcoming, friendly game for ALL.
Just hoping to catch some new members before purchasing. Some of the things that are not made very clear. A "season" pass expires prior to the season being fully over. They will likely make the excuse of "Oh but other courses close on Oct 31" ya but those courses are well maintained. If you work during the week, consider Tuesday and Wednesday off limits. Its League night so if you aren't a part of it, you can't golf at all. Don't plan on receiving any support from marshals here. Been left in many awful situations, been yelled at by marshals, and been told, "That's too bad" on many occasions. The pace of play here is horrendous. Management is not good. They clearly only care about cramming as many people on the course as possible, will never let you know that they just punched the greens which they do more often than any course around, and dont fill many holes Sure you can get some okay rounds in, but plan for more 9-holes than anything. I know ownership will reply to this saying that "All courses stop their memberships on Oct 31"; they dont. "Our pace of play is 15 mins per hole" I can assure you after 50 rounds this year, that it is not. I made the mistake of getting a membership here and can safely say I will not be golfing at Pineview at all in the next couple of years and will advice people do the same. PS. You might think that purchasing a membership will get you a discount on their sims.. only true if you keep on buying the membership year after year since they expire in October again before the season is even over
