This campground is one of my favorites and is typically my first choice for camping if my family is with me primarily because of the bathroom access and water wells. It has several water well pumps and bathrooms throughout the entire camp site. The sites are well maintained and all of them have a table and fire pit. I did have an encounter with a bear one of the weekends I went up this year, so I do emphasize the importance of proper food storage and cleanliness for the sake of safety for you and your neighbors. There is couple of lakes right up the road that have good fishing, and are great for kayaking and canoeing. The road up is passable by all vehicle types but is very rough at times, so an SUV/crossover or larger is recommended.

Getting to this campground is very remote about 18 miles up a poorly maintained gravel road. I would not recommend low clearance vehicles. There are pump fountains for water and pit toilets. It has some nice views of the surrounding mountains and provides a good base camp for fishing or hiking into the Beatooth- Absaroka Wilderness.

I have come here for about four years, Intermittently. It's quite and just minutes away, walking distance, from the Historic Fishtail General Store. A true, quaint general store, where inside they have a table where people from around the world sign their names. They have everything a traveler would need.
