I was in town today and noticed this tree I remember going here is a kid. This is one of the most absolutely beautiful list trees I have ever seen in Connecticut this tree is humongous and it is so beautiful if you have not stopped here to look at this tree I would definitely recommend going on an adventure to check this place out you will be truly amazed not only do they have one tree but they also have a second one that runs alongside the river you will also see such a beautiful bridge they do have a picnic bench where you can get out sit and have a nice lunch..
A nice little park with a very historic tree. Be kind so the tree continues to thrive and make history.
Very nice spot, checking out the tree and an easy put in spot for your kayak.
Amazingly beautiful tree. Has to be among the oldest tree in America. Between 400 & 500 years old.
I've been going there since the day I got baptize by my pastor with my husband found with family friends they love it to friend yesterday first time with her kids and she also loved it making plans to go again
This seems like it would be a good place to easily launch a kayak/canoe, which is why I gave it 2 stars. The sycamore tree is a wonder, but unfortunately the spot overall is not safe. When we visited there was broken glass, used charcoals, old food, old plastic floats, and crushed soda cans everywhere. It does not help that there isn't a trash can for people to clean the place up. We attempted to wade into the water with our dog, but neither she nor we felt comfortable climbing over tumbled rocks to do so. There are other quiet spots in CT that are much more well-kept and easier to get in and out of by car.
A must visit if your in the area. Absolutely beautiful. Trees represent strength, beauty and endurance. Come visit and take in all of God's wonderful creations.
If you and your family love trees , this is one of the most beautiful and largest Sycamore tree you will see . There’s a bridge and a river right in the same area . It’s very pretty there but I am not certain if there is anymore trees that I have heard of in the area. Not really sure what else one can do except Kayak if the river is high enough.
Gave the tree a hug! Great spot
In March 2021 the real star of the show was partly visible from this bridge, but the associated park and parking area was closed off by a locked gate and marked by a strange sign. This is a real pity, as I managed to get a glimpse of the splendor of the trees but was not able to properly appreciate it all. Luckily the area was opened in May, but it is unclear why the 'closed for winter' situation exists for the out of town visitor. It was worth returning as these sycamores are a sight to behold. You can get up close and personal to appreciate these giants. There's a picnic table if you wish to take a break here, but besides the Farmington river and the bridge there isn't much more to appreciate unless you walk outside this area. I've updated my rating to be 4 stars.
