They say chicken soup is good for the soul, in Whitehorse it's Pickapeppa! This place is a Whitehorse Gem, that's worthy of your attention and business. Owners Andrea and David work hard to earn your business! Coming here feels more like hanging out at a friend's house and getting served a delicious home cooked Caribbean meal! When you support this restaurant you most definitely feel you are supporting local. You will be treated to warm smiles, a nice diverse menu with veggie options, great table service, as well as a nice assortment of drinks and desserts to choose from. Our group had the homemade mango smoothie which was absolutely amazing and made me feel like I was at the beach, we also had the jerk chicken, fried plantains, Jamaican patty, curry chickpea, and Jamaican rum balls for dessert. Everything was so flavourful, and the portions were generous. Through out the restaurant there are hints of Jamaica nice art work, bright colours which help rid away the winter blues. If you can manage some stairs to get into the restaurant, and want to support a solid local business this is a great place to be. I suggest making reservations ahead of time.
The food was amazing! I got the chickpea curry to go, along with a mango smoothie, and a beef patty and everything was fantastic. I wish I got a better photo but I was so hungry! Definitely going to order food from here again and try all the other dishes
Just tried the Jerk Chicken Roti and the Curried Chicken Roti, it was very good. “Roti” was soft and full of flavour. The curried chicken reminded me of a nice home cooked meal. The homemade Sorel drink had just the right kick with a hint of lime and the homemade pineapple ginger beer had just the right bite. The hours for this restaurant are a bit odd, The interior is warm and welcoming. I tried coming to this restaurant multiple times because I heard such amazing reviews. I’m glad I drove by today and saw the open sign lit up, It was absolutely worth the wait. Went again today and enjoyed the Roti with curried goat, a delicious mango smoothie and a beef patty. Absolutely happy.
Seems like a family run business. Excellent jerk pork as other reviews have stated. Relatively small and dark interior; Jamaican playlist in the background! Expect Whitehorse pricing main plates $20+
There are maybe 3 jerk spots in Toronto that can touch this jerk chicken. This food slaps any food in Edmonton, the jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned and made to perfection. Will definitely be back. Big up the chef. It was so good, I ordered one to go. Nuh long talking...
Food was good. Half my ribs were a bit dry, but the other half was very good, and lots of flavour. Homemade ginger beer was delicious.Food: 4/5
Best food in town; sort of a hidden gem, but the local fad-mob is coming around! Love the soups, patties, and rotis! Try a spicy fish and home-made ginger beer!
Who knew that is find one of the best Caribbean restaurants I've ever experience in The Yukon? I don't know how it got there the owner said, "it's a long story", but I'm happy it did. The food is incredible and it was an awesome place to stop for lunch.
Wow! I was blown away by the food. So flavourful, and authentic - the right amount of spice to make it flavourful and whistling for more of that heat. Tried the Bison stew with the fry bread. I literally said how good the food was for my soul. Also had the Sweet Potato dessert, rum balls, and Ginger Beer!! All worth it. Definitely try this out if you visit - if you want real good comfort food.
Absolutely delicious food! Everything was very fresh! Jerk season is incredible!
