New place and never had pho before. The spring rolls were very good and had a delicious dipping sauce. They were light with crisp veggies. The food I had was excellent with soft vermicelli noodles, savory chicken and shrimp with a very nice amount of spice. It was not overpowering and not too spicy. The coffee with condensed milk was amazing. If you are a coffee drinker, it's a must have. Just be careful how much you stir as it will affect how sweet the coffee becomes. Very highly recommend if you like Vietnamese food. I was very pleasantly surprised. The only thing I will caution on is their use of cilantro. They use it in almost all of their dishes so if you do not like, you will have to request it to be left out.
We tried the chicken, beef, and vegetable pho pictured here, and they were all delicious! Large servings, so plan for leftovers unless you come in really hungry. The service was polite and prompt, and they use peppers they grow themselves while in season. It was a really nice, calm atmosphere, and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. Definitely will be back! Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetable pho and tofu spring rolls.
I am a big fan and critic of Pho but this place was awesome! It gives off “hole in the wall” vibes in the best way. I got Pho Ga chicken and the flavor was spot on. My boyfriend got the beef Vermicelli and he absolutely loved it. We also got egg rolls which were really good, as well. For those that write negative reviews bc of service, there is literally one server I believe the owner so obviously you’re going to have to be a little patient. I think he did great though, the food came out really fast. Seriously check this place out!
I just want to start off with how amazing their service is. We didn't check the hours and ended up coming inside the restaurant maybe 5mins before close and they sat us and we received amazing service the entire time. We ended up staying 30mins after close we did not mean to and would have never done this if we knew they were closing staff members didn't rush us or tell us they were closed. After we left I happened to see the store hours and we just felt terrible. And to end it all we forgot out left overs and our server brought them out to us. All 30mins after close. I want to apologize for staying that late and thank you for the amazing service.
A really neat spot for some great Vietnamese food! Had never been here before, and after a long day of travel, stopped here for some dinner around 7PM before the final stretch. The restaurant was very quiet with a few families eating dinner. The atmosphere was very nice, and we were seated almost immediately by the manager who quickly helped us with some water. We ordered the spring rolls and crag rangoons which were very good. Note: The spring roll comes with shrimp and beef for my vegetarian friends. 3 rangoons and 4 spring rolls Ordered the Pho Tai. 4.2 sliced beef noodle soup which was delicious. The soup came with a garnish plate of thai mint, sliced chili peppers, bean sprouts, and lemon. The bean spouts gave a nice crunch, the chilli raised the spice to another level, and the mint and lemon just gave the broth a bit of extra sweet flavor. I also added hoison sauce and Sriracha to my broth in moderation at recommendation of the server. A little fish sauce complemented the beef quite nicely. Food came out very quickly. Chicken lemongrass was delicious. Lots of vegetarian options. Good atmosphere. Prices are ranged from $8-$20 but mostly average at $13. Street parking on the side of the building, some parking closer in a very small lot. Next to a quaint park. Also have take out if you prefer. Would highly recommend, and I will definitely be coming back!
Big fan of this place. The pho and the spring rolls are great. It's a hole in the wall and not fancy, but we always get food quickly when we are there for dinner. No alcohol on the menu, but the hot tea is always a good choice.
Great little restaurant in the heart of Cedar Rapids. Spring rolls. Seafood Pho. Vegetable Pho. All the dishes tasted great. However the temperature inside the restaurant was maybe 60° at most. All the diners kept their coats on during dinner. Many carry-out customers during our visit tells me this place is more popular with the take-out crowd. The service was very fast, courteous and helpful. We will certainly return for the great food!
Under favorable conditions the aquatic plant Lotus nelumbo nucifera has been known to germinate from seeds over 1,300 years old. In China and Southeast Asia the lotus is a symbol of longevity. It is in fact the national flower of Vietnam; and Vietnam is where our journey begins. The umami forward noodle and broth soup pho is believed to have originated in North Korea and was appropriated in an increasingly southern course after the partition of Korean in 1954. In the aftermath of the Korean War pho was brought by refugees to all corners of the earth and we can thank our lucky stars. The aptly named Phong Lan Vietnamese for another flowering plant: the orchid serves up the finest Vietnamese fares this side of the Mississippi. Pho tai is a personal favorite and comes with thinly sliced rare beef, rice noodles think Bánh hu tieu not the thicker Bánh canh, bone broth and a wide variety of accouterments add the red chili peppers at your own peril. The atmosphere is comfortable and the service extremely friendly and consistent. Nothing helps heal the soul or recover from a night of bacchanalian pursuits better than the rich and electrolyte dense bone broth of a generous bowl of pho and please remember to pronounce the dish “fuh” like “duh” rather than “foe”. You are consuming a soup not vanquishing an enemy.
Meal #89!!!! This is a winner. Lemongrass chicken and shrimp!!! Served with rice and this kinda clear but super flavorful fish sauce!!!! This Vietnamese dish is surely a winner. I actually order extra dish of the sauce I love it to flavor my rice.
The food was superb. I had the spring rolls and the seafood pho. It was so delicious, I didn’t get a chance to take a picture.Recommended dishesSeafood Pho 4 6, Goi Cuon Spring Rolls
