I live closest to these guys and they are reliable and have a nice assortment for a small locale. The staff are calm and comfortable and I wish them the best in their future business!

You can't improve security by simply treating every customer like a potential criminal, at best you alienate people -- at worst you lose customers. I had several very unpleasant experiences at Petrolia Liquor Store. The worst of which happened this week when I tried to buy wine. I had forgotten that I only had an interim driver's license (it's just paper) so I could not make a purchase. I left and came back with a family member (and picture ID) in order to make my purchase. But when I returned, I was accused of trying to STEAL from the liquor store by concealing merchandise! (While searching for alternative photo ID I put 2 bottles on the ground instead of the counter). The cashier, was slinging accusations, in front of my family, insisting that he was absolutely certain that I was a thief. I spoke to the manager but while he tried to be polite, not insinuating anything (he was clearly uncomfortable), he did nothing to calm the cashier. Suspicion is understandable since I'm sure they had their fair share of thefts in the past, but this kind of disrespect was unwarranted and frankly, insulting. Before that unfortunate incident, I had another unpleasant experience buying wine when I asked the attendant if there is a dry red wine he could recommend for me this season -- not an unusual question -- but he responded very brusquely, almost rudely, "if you ask such a question then you don't know anything about wine and should get some experience". I endured that and treated him with courtesy as I made my purchase, but the unpleasant memory remained. Based on these experiences, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone who enjoys selecting and trying new wines. Perhaps they deal with a lot of shady customers in this area. But that is the nature of their business and it is no excuse to be so abrasive, impatient and disrespectful with customers. If you do decide to go to Petrolia, just buy and get out quickly. Be prepared to be closely scrutinized like in an airport security screening... and try not to ask for help or advice.
