Once again I am blown away by the fantastic service by the Peterborough bus drivers. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Chris driving the #8 bus. It is a terrible icy day out and not only did he get us to our destination safely he went out of his way to make sure passenger got off the bus safely without slipping. Thank you so much to all of the amazing bus drivers for showing up on the bad weather driving safely! Truly heroic!
I can't give lower than a 1 star, reasons are definitely to long to type, just please fix your horrible bus times and systems. bus drove right by me and my son and now we have to wait another 45min in the cold. One time a bus driver just left the bus unattended running and went into the mall for 25min. I am just sick of paying 76$ a month for sub par services.
Today, Tuesday October 29th at around 130, I went to the customer service desk and politely asked for change since the machine was not working. Although I received the change without issue, the service attendant seemed very annoyed and not polite in the least. The driver however was very polite and helpful as I had questions about the route I was taking.
Unfortunately, Peterborough Transit is a plagued system with numerous issues. I want to preface this by saying that the system is not failed because of one or two bus drivers, but it is flawed at its core, and poor management does not help.nnTo start, delays and cancellations are a daily, ongoing issue. I have spent 3 years in Peterborough so far and not a week goes by without me being let down by a severely delayed or cancelled bus. This would not be a big issue if i received warnings/updates on delays or cancellations, as then I would be able to change plans and move on. Though, most often, only planned cancellations are posted to twitter, and most of the time you only find out the bus is cancelled after you’ve been waiting on it for 20+ minutes past its scheduled arrival time. This is a massive waste of time and is extremely frustrating. This issue is exacerbated by untruthful customer service representatives at the Bus Terminal. Any time I call about the whereabouts of my bus, I am lied to. To expand, I have called 4 times about busses that I expect are cancelled or severely delayed. Their answer is always “it’s about 10 minutes away”. The bus has never been close to 10 minutes away, even if you round up to 15 or 20. Only once has the bus showed up within 30 minutes after I call. I believe they know they are not telling the truth, but i’d rather them be honest and say it’s cancelled or not coming anytime soon so I can go back home or take another route.nnMy third issue can be fixed with better training and hiring managers, and i’m not sure why it hasn’t been done yet since I know there are countless users complaining about it: Rude bus drivers. In my experience, about half of the bus drivers are rude to me or those I know. This includes mean comments or remarks about being out of service, even when those attempting to embark are not aware of the change because they are not able to see the sign from… inside the bus!! Fortunately, these rude bus drivers are balanced by extremely nice ones, but it’s 50/50 and I know that it’s possible to higher nicer people because they’ve done it before.nnMy final issue is with the terminal employees, mostly security guards. They take any chance to yell at you and seem to be on a power trip. For example, if you step one foot off of the sidewalk to make your route to Simcoe street quicker, you will be yelled at. I know they’re trying to enforce rules which i applaud but for many who don’t know the rules, being yelled at will not paint a good picture of the transit system in their heads. It’s also really not that hard to nicely explain a rule to someone.nnPeterborough Transit, I hope you are able to learn from this and begin to make changes in your system. I am aware that nothing can be done quickly, but for the future of Peterborough and its residents, I sincerely hope something can be done about this embarrassment.
Helpful patient staff. Although paper or downloadable bus system maps from the website would be helpful to new comers.A student asked me which bus to go downtown The station has a cleaner bathroom than many in the areaespecially go bus and subway bathrooms, except for yorkdale. The only cleaner bathroom I've seen is in a northland station in northern Ontario.
