I had my baby here in August and it was a pleasant experience for me. I wonder why this place is poorly rated. The nurses are kind and work their butts off and I appreciate that. I gave them 4 stars because the place was very busy not their fault though and I couldn't get a bed in Labour and Delivery. After waiting for hours I was given two options to either keep waiting at the triage or go home and expect them to call me when a bed was available. I chose the latter and they kept to their promise. My nurses were awesome all through my labour and they involved me in my care till the very end.
The nurses in Labour & Delivery are absolutely amazing!! They're extremely compassionate and super friendly. Though I went in for some pain, the nurses were extremely helpful. My little one isn't due for a few more months, but the treatment the nurses provided makes me feel at ease knowing I'll be in the best care with these wonderful ladies!
The staff in the cast clinic are amazing!!! ALL of them, unit clerks, X-ray tech, nurses even the porter’s all of them. It was calm and welcoming. The waiting room was overflowing and the wait was extremely long…. My appointment was at 11 we left at 2:45. However the staff was so incredible, I was called in 3 separate times, first to have my splint from surgery removed then for my X-ray and finally to see the dr and get my new cast and every time I felt that I had their full attention, I never felt rushed or as if I was an inconvenience. The Dr listened to my concerns and answered my questions with detail. One of the best hospital experiences I’ve ever had. Good Job you all made my situation a little less stressful. So appreciated
I had my baby here in October and it was a pleasant experience for me. The care after delivery was good I had two nurses in the 24 hours I was in after delivery and both were great at helping and answering any questions. My nurses were awesome all through my labour and they involved me in my care until the end. I want to say thank you for your kind
I had to go to Emergency for a cut finger at around 7pm and yes the wait was long; about 7 hours, however, the staff was excellent as well as the female Doctor who treated me. She was run off her feet and still was apologetic for the wait time. I am a Health Care Aide so I know how busy the staff are and I totally respect the work they do. I have had shifts where I literally have had no time to even go pee and held it for hours. Don't assume because someone is sitting around that they are not busy or are not deserving of that small moment of rest. I really appreciated the excellent care I received!
The maternity ward is not favorable. The staff are friendly, but don't even both with an induction here. If you are in active labour they still make you wait in the waiting room for a significant amount of time before taking your information and then eventually admitting you from what i seen. South health is so much better if you can go there! Much better communication! Here, you will wait until your water breaks anyways, even if on an induction list. You aren't priority for induction unless maybe 41 weeks and 3 days. Honestly I don't even know if they'd care then either. If they keep you here, then you are last on their list. If you are kept because you are on alert watch and wait too long, then it is blamed that you shouldn't have been told to stay on watch by the previous doctor on call. They will go hours and hours without communication, especially overnight unless you bug them at the desk. If they send you home, then they won't call you because even if you are on an induction list you are not priority in any form. I've been here for two days and they still refuse to prioritize me even passed my due date. The triage support person chairs are worse than the waiting room chairs. The bathrooms are dirty with blood and not always stocked. Very very very disappointed in the care here compared to what I've experience at south health campus.
I delivered my second baby here in the beginning of July and the staff in my labour and delivery where outstanding. My nurse and Ob that was on call made this experience far better then I had at a different hospital with my first child. The care after delivery was good I had two nurses in the 24 hours I was in after delivery and both where great at helping and answering any questions I had with Brest feeding.
I know there is a lot of people that are experiencing emergencies and i completely understand that. but i feel like that they need to hire more staff so everyone can be seen in a reasonable amount of time. waiting five hours is a bit much especially when you are in pain or sick or have children that experiencing these things. SOME of the people in triage are very snappy and rude as well does not feel welcoming at all.
Honestly, I can give this hospital 4.5 stars as my experience with my labour was amazing. The nurses were fantastic and it was during Covid. I docked a point because the emergency wait times are crazy. We need more Dr.s in all of our hospitals. Airdrie urgent care is the worst!!!! 6-7 hours and no communication amongst staff.
Didn’t expect to wait for about 12 hours here. I came around 11pm with my grandpa with chest pains and despite getting into triage quickly and doing an ECG within the first hour of being there, after the ECG, the lady just left us there standing for 45 minutes and didn’t tell us to go back into the waiting room or anything. Bad communication from staff to patient. Triage staff was also rude to a sick lady who was in a stretcher and said she was gonna be sick and started gagging and throwing up, the nurse told the patient in a very rude and loud voice to tell her to “Stop! You weren’t throwing up 30 minutes ago” Rather than telling her to stop and being mad at her for being sick, it’s better for you to check up on your patient and talk to her about how’s she doing and if she needs anything. On top of that, the emergency room washrooms both stalls were dirty both had droplets blood on the ground and the other one had chunks and chunks of hair on the ground. While someone complained to the cleaning staff, no one cleaned it up for another 2 hours until I asked if I could use a different bathroom inside Triage admitting room and they said I could only used washrooms outside of Triage. Waiting here for 12+ hours is too insane, especially seeing all the same faces waiting the same time as me, and we’re all wondering when we can see a single doctor. Service here was extremely bad and the staff aren’t the best here either. I don’t think I will be coming here back again.
