I had a great experience in the museum. Been here before it was renovated and the after was completely different. Love the exhibition all way round, amazing work put on for viewers. Had a lot more to show and educational for kids. I didn’t have to wait long to enter as I went there during a week day so it wasn’t that busy. Definitely recommend coming again.
I’m just so confused with this because there’s a sign that it’s a museum but when you go inside, there’s only one floor that actually has ‘exhibit’ and it’s just selling secondhand books? Plus there’s information boards about history and that’s all we were walking through the block looking for the museum and greeted by this so it’s really disappointing
After a long wait I was pleasantly surprised at the architecture and the layout of the new museum. The emphasis on our first nation people's is amazing. However I still do not understand why a copy of the Parthenon Eglin marbles appears on one of the high floors. The original marbles are in the British museum but in reality they belong to the Parthenon in Athens. The museum should have been more politically correct.
Little hide away museum with a story to tell. The attendant was nice and let me take some pictures of this old upright piano that was part of the exhibition this month.
It is a small museum, but you can find interesting historical Perth exhibits, and the day we went there was a books re-selling as well! The woman that works there is super friendly and lovely. We were new in the city, and she recommended us some places to visit in Perth Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
A small yet rather quaint museum; the day I went the focus was on John Gill a piano player of note. The display gave all there was to learn, with video etc. The guide was knowledgeable about the display and was pleasant to talk with.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Paid a visit here expecting to learn about history of Perth. Walked from the ground to the above floors in the building looking for exhibitions but couldn't find any. Have to read other people's comment to find that it's just a room on the ground floor which is now selling second hand books, and the floor above are offices. Also a lot of people post pictures of the Western Australian Museum here which is misleading to the others. In general, if you really want to learn about history, you should visit WA Museum.
This is a great little community museum. But many of the images here are NOT CORRECT. The Museum of Perth is a one room exhibit - no dinosaurs or large impressive exhibits. Many people are confusing this with the other museum. Definitely stop in here, though. It’s free, interesting, and a quick visit. Weeknight was here they were hosting a book sale.
Sorry to criticise, but this was pathetic. It's not a Museum of Perth, it's a single room in a tatty old office building which seems to be mainly about selling second hand records. There was virtually no "history" to be seen. The attendant explained that the exhibition was about a musician who had some association with Perth. And that was it. It was free, but not worth the waste of shoe leather getting there.
Allow plenty of time... this museum is huge and covers an excellent timeline.
