The staff were polite enough. The food was decent. The interior design felt "homey". I enjoyed the coleslaw. I like the fact they jerk the chicken in the drum like they're supposed to. I could feel the flavours...but I think my chicken was just a tad dry. Overall I'd eat here again. They have a good reputation with some Jamaicans I know which is why I was motivated to go
This review is for the Main street location downtown Brampton. We ordered 1lb of pork and a small order of rice and peas. The jerk pork was bones and fat; there was barely any meat. The rice and peas was good. We didn't find the staff friendly or inviting. We felt as if we were bothering them. Our order cost $16.95. We won't go back.
Ordered curry goat and oxtail from this place for the first time. Almost all of the reviews sound promising so why not give it a try, right? I’m not even surprised that they DONT serve fresh food. The steam veggies had a funky smell as well as the white rice, it was as if they mixed old rice with the new. The food was so salty that i could barely taste the flavour of the meat. Not to mention the attitude of the staff. The staff was not welcoming nor friendly. They barely greeted or said a word when I came in, and most of all, they did not even acknowledge my business at the end. I mean if you’re going to act stuck up at least make sure your food is banging or have a tiny bit of authenticity. The food is way below average and to be honest, that will be my first and last going to this restaurant.
I bought a small garlic Shrimp with rice and peas. The shrimp was nice but the rice was cold like when you freeze rice and thaw it out. When I got home and warmed the food the rice was still hard. Clearly the rice was not fresh. I called the owner and he yell at me and told me everything is fresh. Why would I lie about your rice. The customer service from him is very poor. The ladies in the front are sweet. Unfortunately they lost me and my family as customers. Learn to constructive criticism Chris.
I love the soups on Fridays and the pumpkin rice is delicious. The seafood medley and shrimp dishes are my favorites. I'm there every Friday. Love it . Vegetarian options: They offer steamed veggies, fish, seafood, and other options.
Delicious rice and peas. The jerk chicken was the spotlight, well grilled and delicious. I will definitely go back to try other meals.Food: 5/5
I went in to try the seafood medley and was blown away on how delicious it was. I also really enjoyed the rice and peas and jerk chicken. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff.
I heard about this restaurant when I was in Toledo Ohio, I made it a point to seek out this restaurant and I was not disappointed, the food is great with such a variety of Caribbean food choices. The restaurant was clean and the staff were wonderful. The owners were there and took great pride in issuing great customer service. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. I can't wait to come back and get some more of the curry goat and oxtails.
Initially, our experience was pleasant with our first few times going. But went on Friday, January 20, 2023 and purchased GARLIC SHRIMP w RICE AND PEAS. Shrimp was good but the RICE AND PEAS was cold and tough. When we proceeded to call CHRIS and let him know about the condition of the RICE AND PEAS, he proceeded to yell saying LISTEN, RICE AND PEAS MEK TODAY!!!!”. Never have we been treated like this by any business let alone business owner. CHRIS, PLEAES STOP LEAVING THE SAME GENERIC MESSAGES FOR PEOPLE. WE CALLED YOU AND YOU CURSED US. IM REALLY INSULTED BY THIS ESPECIALLY WHEN PEOPLE ARE PAYING THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY FOR THEIR FOOD. Have a good day.
Small location with big flavors. The few times my family ordered from here. The kids had no complaints and myself and husband liked our fingers afterwards. The only thing is if you arrive during thier busy time, you might be waiting a long time. So it all depends on your patience level. But honestly food is definitely worth the wait.
