Overall disappointed with our stay. I felt that the room was overpriced for what it was, check-in time isn’t until 5pm which I’ve never encountered at a hotel in my many travels, and they charge a fee if you want a physical key card instead of using your phone as a digital key card. Using a phone for check-in isn’t accessible to everyone. I could understand charging a deposit if the card isn’t returned, but a fee is inconvenient for travellers who risk their phone dying or choose not to use a smart phone. Feels like a money grab after an already expensive stay.nnI had called in advance of our reservation to inquire about an early check-in, even willing to pay extra for the convenience of being able to do so. The team member said they couldn’t guarantee it, but that they would leave a note on our reservation for when they did room assignments the day of our check-in. When we arrived, the associate at the front desk didn’t acknowledge this and just told us our room wasn’t ready without any further indication of timing. When I asked her for an estimate on timing, she very condescendingly told me that housekeeping works very hard and she has no way of knowing when our room would be ready. I spent years of my life working in housekeeping, I’m aware of what it entails and I still have no idea what that has to do with wanting an estimate on timing. I’d like to think I’m a fairly understanding person and if it didn’t work out to check in early, so be it, but to be patronized and for the team member to put no effort into trying to help us plan accordingly wasn’t good service. The only good service I experienced was when we eventually completed our check-in at 11pm and the front desk clerk working at that time was very empathic and kind.
Be careful of the shower. It only has half of a glass door, so the floor can get flooded and slippery. Other than that, we would definitely stay here again. The pool area is beautiful with flowers, loungers & couches, fun lights at night, etc. The scenery out the front of the hotel is spectacular! Clean, tasty beverages in the lobby…
The people at this hotel are so lovely and welcoming. The rooms are beautiful and very well equipped. Great for families. My only complaint is that the pull out bed was not very comfortable. But we'll certainly come again!
Beautiful rooms, nice pool and hot tub. A huge chess board out by pools. Bike rentals are right at Lodge. Room keys are through flexpass, I think it's called. If you go to bed early and are a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the pool area. It's open until 11:00 pm.nI would definitely stay here again.
Unfortunately, we never got the chance to stay at Pemberton Valley Lodge due to an unexpected change in our travel plans. While we understand that policies are in place for a reason, we were extremely disappointed by the management’s lack of flexibility and understanding in our situation. Due to the atmospheric river, ferries from Vancouver island got cancelled and we were unable to get to the mainland for our reservation Despite giving as much notice as possible, a refund was declined. When we asked to speak to management, we were told we would get a call back the following day. Instead of a call back my credit card was charged and I had to reach out the following evening to try to touch base with management again by email. It was suggested that next time we purchase travel insurance, which when travelling in your home province seems silly.nnThe communication with the staff was unhelpful, and it felt like they were more focused on enforcing rigid policies than trying to work with us in good faith. In the hospitality industry, customer service should be a top priority, and sadly, Pemberton Valley Lodge fell short in this regard.nnWe were really looking forward to staying here, but after this experience, we won’t be considering this hotel for future trips and will be sharing our experience with others. A little understanding and customer care would have gone a long way.
