We have been eating there occasionally since 2006 and my overall opinion is that either the food got blander over the years or my palette improved with age or… I’m losing gradually my senses!: They served the best Peking duck in Montreal but the past couple of times, it wasn’t as tasty and the cucumbers were not fresh. The sweet and sour tofu was excellent! The fried rice and beef noodles were ok.
Very disappointed. Normally the food is good but it has declined recently. Today I ordered Singapore noodles extra spicy and what I got was incredibly bland and #flavorless with rubbery chicken. When I called the restaurant to mention that the food received was not up to their usual standard the man who answered seemed indifferent at best. I ended up throwing out the noodles. To be avoided in the future.
Run into this restaurant by accident and it’s one of the best chinese restaurants that I’ve ever eaten in Montreal! Very clean, amazing service, and love the decorations. Ordered the shrimp wonton noodle soup, excellent broth with big chunks of shrimp wontons! Ordered the shrimp fried rice, and really enjoyed the wok flavor of fried rice! Will have to be back to try other stuff. Nice package for the to go portion and enjoyed the fortune cookies for dessert!
Inauthentic Chinese food. Was super disappointed when it arrived. The Peking duck came as a whole duck thigh. Skin was mushy and it felt like the whole leg was just boiled? The plain pancakes themselves were alright though. The cashew chicken tasted SO heavily of just bell peppers and bell peppers only. The veggie stir fry was alright in taste...but it was too greasy. The fortune cookie the meal was supposed to come with looked like croutons? I was initially very confused because I had no idea what it was for until I realized it was to substitute the fortune cookies. The soup it came with had thick chunks of gelatinous stuff in them. The shrimp toast was actually yummy, but I wish it didn't explode in my mouth with oil and grease every time I bit into it. Overall, super "North American" Chinese food. Quite disappointed.
Very well packaged. Had the vegetable fried rice and I've had better unfortunately. I prefer when the rice has a slight smoky taste and this one didn't. Just personal taste. However, the vegetable chow mein was absolutely delicious!! And I love the fact that they placed the fried noodles on top of the veggies so they don't get soggy. I thank you for that!
Now I ate there Friday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed everything. However, I ordered on Sunday, Feb 26 and my Cantonese Chow Mein was terrible. There was no pork, an item supposedly included, only 3 shrimp, the chicken was very chewy and the vegetables consisted almost entirely of tough Chinese broccoli stalks. About 2/3 of the container was dry noodles. Certainly not the quality I expected. Now the wonton soup and spring rolls were good.
Best Chinese food in the area 5 yumminess. Salt and pepper seafood beyond my expectations fresh ingredients crispy batter and perfectly balanced seasoning. Cantonese stir fry veggies and noodles delicious. Worth the visit.
Service was bad. Mentioned it’s a 95th birthday twice, and no acknowledgement, soup bowl was dirty on outside.Dirty dishes sat at table and not cleared. No fortune cookies and waiter never came back. Eventually went to the register to pay. Food was ok. Kam Shing is much much tastier bigger portions. Disappointed.
Went here since I was a kid when they were in the old location on queen Mary upstairs. They make the best chop suey won ton soup. Also make a great pan fried noodles with vegetables especially their broccoli, tofu in black bean sauce, shrimp toast, crispy spinach , shrimps in lobster sauce, egg rolls and probably some other dishes I’m forgetting
Truly authentic chinese food and very popular place to eat. Conveniently located within a 30 second walk from Snowdon metro. Leave your car at home because its hard to find parking. Take public transportation or Uber it. We had steamed rice, beijing pork, sautéed snow pea tips with garlic, and salted fish and eggplant pork hot pot. Delish! My parents loved it.
