I recently dined at peacock Restaurant in Halifax, and I must say it offers a fantastic range of South Indian dishes that truly capture the authentic flavors of the region. The variety on the menu is impressive, making it a great spot for anyone craving genuine South Indian cuisine.nnI started my meal with the Chicken Mandi, which was incredibly flavorful. The chicken was tender, and the spices were spot on, delivering a rich and authentic taste. The dish was accompanied by mayonnaise and mint chutney sides, both of which were excellent and added a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the mandi. However, I did find the qubbos pita bread to be a bit disappointing—it didn’t seem as fresh as I had hoped, but it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the dish.nnNext the most delicious paaal kaapaa was mouth watering one with authentic taste its a must try one i would recommend.nnNext, I tried the Beef Khizhi Porotta, which was equally impressive. The beef was well-cooked, tender, and bursting with traditional spices. The porotta was fresh and flaky, making this dish an absolute treat.nnTo round off my meal, I had a Mango Falooda, which was superb. The sweetness and texture were perfectly balanced, making it a refreshing and delightful end to the meal.nnDespite the minor issue with the pita bread, my experience was great overall. If you’re in Halifax and looking for authentic South Indian flavors, Peacock modern Indian Restaurant is definitely worth a visit!
This is a hidden gem of a place in Bedford! Such responsive and attentive staff with a very low-profile but serene ambience with only 7-8 tables.nnLove their fried rice , kizhi porotta and biryani - not for boneless chicken folks. Chicken Manchurian was a little hard on the outside but tasted fair.The fresh lime soda was super refreshing and tasty!nnWe skipped dessert this time because our previous experience with the Mango and Rose falooda was disappointing. It had an off-putting taste and was more like a milkshake, which goes against the essence of a falooda. Hopefully, they’ll improve this soon!
Me and my friend tried the weekend special ‘Shawai Chicken Mandi’ the so called chicken mandi was a utter disaster from the beginning as when I went to pickup the order the sides were missing in the bag and I went again to get the extra sides and after reaching home the ad mentioned pickled vegetables was also missing. The taste of both the Mandi and chicken was too bad as I got chicken curry pieces from the mandi and the portion of the Mandi is way too less for even a single person. I used to order frequently from this restaurant but I never expected this kind of experience from this restaurant and I would never recommend this place to anyone especially their weekend specials if anybody doesn’t want their weekend to get ruined.
Super delicious and very authentic Indian food. Real, huge dosas have landed in Halifax, yay! Real mutton biryiani in banana leaf - yum.nStaff is so friendly.nWhat a gem of a place - well worth the drive from downtown.nWe’ll be back for sure!
I recently visited Peacock Modern Indian Cuisine and tried the kappa biriyani and kothu porota. Initially, there was some confusion with the staff about the availability of the kappa biriyani, despite their Instagram story saying otherwise. After calling three times, the staff finally confirmed it was available. They should definitely update the front staff about the menu. Despite the hassle, the food was good and came in decent quantities.
