The art, architecture, gardens, landscaping and original furnishings are all faithfully preserved and are enlivened by the stories of the lives and accomplishments of his remarkable family. In 1989, Parkwood was officially designated a National Historic Site and R.S. McLaughlin was named a person of significance to Canadian heritage by Parks Canada. Went on a garden tour today. It was fabulous. Our tour guide Louise was great and the group we were with were fun. The gardens are just stunning. I love this place and it’s our 10th time going. I highly recommend any of their tours the auto baron, servants quarters, basement… they’re all informative and exciting. The gift shop is charming and all of the staff LOVE their work and the home. We ended our day with lunch at the tea garden which was scrumptious and well worth the prices. A little bit of Oshawa’s history to explore.
There are several tours you can choose from and we are very glad to have toured the mansion today. Look at their excellent website or call their helpful staff and volunteers. Elizabeth was great. Thanks for answering a hundred questions. This amazing place sits in the midst of Oshawa and they don't charge for parking? That's generous.
This is a hidden gem! I live close by and was never aware of this place! We took a guided tour of the palace and it was incredible! The tour guides/crew are all awesome friendly and make you feel at home, they made this experience even more remembrable. Thank you Vivian, you are doing great. The estate itself is great, has a tea restaurant near the fountain and water body which is an amazing experience. I'm looking forward to booking the next tour of the servant quarters and first floor in the fall. It's a wonderful place, even if you're not a fan of history, a must visit!
In the heart of the city, lays a historic building that gives you peace and tranquility with its lush gardens. You can pay to take a tour, or wander the gardens on your own. They even have a Tea House by a beautiful water feature. Weddings in abundance happen here as well, and o can see why.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
The Parkwood Estate is a spectacular place to tour around. We did the basement tour and it was super interesting with a very knowledgeable guide. Afterwards we had a bite to eat in their garden tea house and the food was delicious and the view out to the garden and fountains were beautiful plus the service was absolutely top notch. I highly recommended a visit. However if you plan on eating at the tea house I suggest you book ahead online as they don't take walk ins which was rather disappointing but we did manage to book in before the day was over, so not a big deal.
Its a place beautifully tucked away right in the middle of the most busy area of oshawa. Once you enter the property you will feel like you have been whishked away into a totally different world. The estate is grand to say the least and also hosts weddings. The gardens are beautifully maintained. The main attraction is a huge fountain garden that lies behind the house. If you need a quick getaway from the humdrum of daily life to somewhere beautiful and nearby this would be it. There's a garden restaurant but i am not sure if its open on all days and whether it caters to regular tourists. Would be great if it did! The sunken garden is equipped for outdoor weddings. Must sure make for an awesome venue on a bright sunny day.
Absolutely loved the time we spent at this beautiful place. The staff was super friendly and the whole tour is very interesting. I think it's awesome that their gift shop has merchandise from local artists and businesses. We loved everything Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
There are beautiful gardens throughout the entire estate, and the formal garden is one of the most impressive. What is even more surprising is that the entire ground level is free for visitors to explore. There is also a fascinating history about Sam McLaughlin and the history of the Canadian automobile industry.
Parkwood Estate is a must see museum, the history and story of RS McLaughlin and his family is fascinating and educational. Tour guides are volunteers who have a true love for the estate. The Gardens oh my goodness... I can't even pick which one is my favorite but I can recommend stopping by the tea house for a light snack or lunch. Parkwood also offers many social events you should check out. Question ... how many movies/TV shows can you name that were filmed at Parkwood?? Umbrella Academy
Absolutely beautiful grounds that are very well kept and available to the public to access for free they also offer guided tours for a fee. Enjoyed a tasty meal at The Tea House and had an amazing time with great company.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
