Place was very busy when we arrived. We have to wait for a meals over half a hour, but was warthed. Food was very good and tasty. I will give them 5 stars if won't be for long waiting time.
This cafe has a wonderful ambiance! Lots of natural light in the morning and a small town Gilmore Girls vibe. The staff were super nice and the food was delicious. They also offer fresh baked goods, including a gluten free banana bread this morning.Food: 5/5
Met my Dad here for brunch breakfast is served all day- huge bonus! We sat outside as it was a gorgeous October day. You can hear the church bells from here as well, very charming. I was impressed to find out they had decaf cappuccinos , and milk alternatives such as unsweetened almond milk and oat milk. The cappuccino was huge, and even with almond milk, there was a ton of froth. Awesome. I built my own omelette - also pleased they have olive oil for cooking oil. I had an egg white omelette with spinach, mushroom and onion with Pumpernickel toast, and a side of oatmeal- YUM!Dad had an omelette as well, I forget which one…but we both ate every single bite. This will definitely be our new spot for breakfast/lunch, or even for a coffee date :-
Brunch was good! Wait was tolerable, wasn’t very busy at 10:30/11 a.m. on a Monday. Food was yummy, price point was great. Will totally go back.
Paperback Cafe is a newly rediscovered, favorite of ours! The new ownership has been a breath of fresh air, while keeping the charm of a small town landmark. There's something for everyone on this menu! My kids love the pancakes & avocado toast. I've never gone wrong with any of the "scrambles", and the hash browns are a must! Very accommodating, gluten free options, and dairy alternative milks which is a plus! Our meals have always been paired with great service and warm smiles. Will be back very soon! Kid-friendliness: My kids have always been warmly welcomed. Staff is patient & gives crayons! Also kid cups with lids!
We had the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. They were accompanied by a lovely mild salsa, slices of avocado and delicious string hash browns. Fabulous lunch at a great price, with terrific service. Oh, by the way, they serve more than breakfast foods! I think I'll try the Cobb Salad next time. Parking: Close to restaurant.
As usual I got the Paleo pancakes. I literally travel from my town to Old Saybrook every few months to get these.
12.50 for the big breakfast ? One peice of bacon one sausage patty and the pancake was very small , food was good just very pricey I feel for the amount you get plus the paperback lost the charm it once had , no books , no music , its turned into another overpriced shoreline summer spot
The famous French Toast is awesome. The glaze that is used is a welcome surprise. Service did take a while and it didn't seem very busy but I suppose all good things come to those who wait. My son said the paleo pancakes were good, slight taste of banana.
Very glad we stopped here for brunch despite the 3 star rating. All of us in our party of four adults enjoyed our meals. I would have rated it 5 except my husband didn’t think his hash browns were great. I loved my “Rachel” a rueben sandwich made with turkey. Full variety of coffees to choose from. Friendly quick service, and our server got all our special requests right. We will be back!
