Had the beast ramen and it more than lived up to the name. Amazing flavors and balance. The broth was rendered perfectly. My partner had the vegan bowl and she loved the lightness and umami flavors. We will definitely be coming back!
We've ordered takeout once before but tonight we dined in for the first time. We came for oyster night and tried oysters for the first time. As newbies to oysters I was expecting a strong fishy taste but they were very mild and delicious with all the little accoutrements. We also tried the tuna crudo which was good. To finish off we got Vietnamese garlic noodles which were so creamy and garlicky, as well as the Dan Dan noodles. It was definitely a special treat kind of dinner as it all added up quick but worth the price for a nice meal!
Finally made the stop in to their permanent location after going to pop ups at Dominion City and we were not disappointed! The noodles, Brussels sprouts, Karaage chicken and peach dessert were all fantastic. We would highly recommend adding the pork belly to the sprouts.
Cute noodle spot. Service was excellent, drinks, mains and desert were excellent. Apps were good, but not the reason to come here. Unique twist on some classic dishes. Highly recommend the jalapeño sake drink and the millionaire tart and the peaches and crème. Sit on the patio while you can!
Great noodle bar! Definitely has a warm vibe and smells great inside. The Brussel sprouts were tasty but were maybe a bit too charred tasting by the end of the dish. The beast ramen was really great! They ran out of oysters but those seemed like they would’ve been great. Definitely a place I’d go back to and that you should check out!
A cute noodle bar with good service. The Beast ramen was just ok, the noodles were tasty but the meat was fatty and chewy Some type of ham, the meat in the Beast ramen rotates. Not a traditional ramen broth, which makes sense since it’s fusion but would have liked a creamy broth instead of oily. Egg was nice texture just a little too salty. The special potato salad was delicious and flavourful. Overall, just wasn’t my taste after having had the best ramen in Vancouver.
We loved Tuesday's no noodles yakitori evening. We had the brussel sprouts incredible boosted with pork belly, chicken karaage, pork belly skewers, chicken thighs - both inner and outer. We tried skewers of spuds, zucchini with chimichurri, chicken oysters. All of it was hot and fresh, the staff were attentive and quick to bring things out as they were ready. This is the perfect beer sipping food. Can't wait to return.
Ordered beast noodle, scallop ceviche, chicken karaage. The noodle dish was good but you gotta eat everything together. The ceviche dish's salt was too coarse so it was salty and the salt texture didn't go well with soft scallops. The karaage dish was served at room temperature which we didn't like so we told them and returned the food and got refund They were very generous they didn't charge one of our drinks It wasn't a great experience but we will go back there to try other noodles
We tried the chicken karage, creamed brusselsprouts with pork belly and we each ordered the the beast Ramen. Up until this point Sansotei has been my go to ramen place. The broth at Paper Tiger by comparison is less "milky" in clarity but still packed with flavour and complexity. No option for noodle thickness but since I love thick noodles that wasn't an issue. Their smoked pork belly and the egg with the ramen is just *chef's kiss* I look forward to coming back to try their cocktail menu and seasonal offerings! We had enjoyed the patio on our visit but inside looked quite cozy and it was pretty packed even on an early Saturday evening around 5-6pm. Must try!
If you have had authentic ramen at Sansotei Ramen or Ramen Isshin on the same street you will not enjoy the “ramen” here. It is more of a ramen-inspired noodle soup. You can tell that their ingredient selection is high-quality but the flavour of the broth is shallow and does not live up to the ramen standard. It has off-putting sweet undertones. The deep fried brussel sprouts were overwhelmingly greasy but my friend said they enjoyed it more than the ramen dish.
