"The Outback Saloon is one of the oldest neighborhood bars in Boulder. For over 30 years we have been serving the boulder area. Pool, shuffleboard, fooseball, darts, newly added axe throwing, Karaoke, open mic multiple TVs, 25 beers on tap, and amazing food just to name a few. Now serving breakfast!! Come be a part of the Outback family. If you’re looking for a nice local hangout out a comfortable, non-pretentious place to have a drink, we’re the spot. Looking forward to seeing you soon."

Bar has potential - various games, billiards, and axe throwing, which is unique! But the drinks side of the bar is a let down. Maybe we just had a lousy bartender, but our drinks were super watered down and overpriced for the amount of actual beverage you get. Entire cups filled with ice. Who wants that? Edit after owner's reply: My review didn't accuse this of being a cocktail glass. And I shouldn't have to ask for my cup not to be completely filled with ice. Restaurants and bars tend to fill cups HALF way full of ice, which is an industry tactic to make the customer pay more for less. But for the price of a soft drink at this bar, I should get more than 10% soda and 90% ice. As for cocktails, you admitted in your reply that you fill the entire glass with ice because it would otherwise be full of mixer. I've been to plenty of establishments serving cocktails that do not fill the entire glass with ice and the drinks are still strong and satisfying. I don't believe your cocktail prices are "fair" for a drink full of mostly ice and/or mixer. Also, after reading how the owner replies to other customers' experiences often blaming them instead of taking accountability, I have lowered my rating to 1 star.
First time here, Bartender Billy I think? was great. Friendly and service was good. Only tried the wings but they were good enough. I’d order them again but I’d probably have try some of the other food next time. The onion rings looks dank. Beer was cold.
Find another bar/DJ if you’re going with a group with the goal of participating in karaoke. The sound system makes it difficult to hear the music. Also, we arrived with a group of folks, say 20, who all had bar tabs and came to enjoy karaoke however the DJ did not give newcomers a try. Seemed all local or allowed the same people have multiple turns singing the same genre of song which affected the atmosphere. I really wanted to like this place… we lost some folks in our group due to Unnecessary long wait times. Was there for 3+ hours and saw same 4 people since 3x each. Hard to keep group together if folks are not drinking and the DJ is not diversifying the engagement. I recommend that the Dj cycle the participants. Do not go here if you are visiting and you wish to participate.
The Outback is awesome! Drinks are always good and very reasonably priced. The karaoke on weekends is super fun, and they have pool tables, axe throwing, foosball, etc. All of the bartenders I see regularly Matt, Billy, Eric, Morgan are friendly, welcoming, and fun. Was there the other night and it started snowing, and Billy even made sure to check on us and make sure we were OK to drive in the snow before we left! Great bar with good people.
This place has been tucked away for over 30 years. The staff were amazing & the food was great! Don't miss out on the steak sandwich, it's one of the best I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable.
Do not go here. My friend and I went out on a night that was reserved for a group party, we got let in, and the bouncer realized after. Rather than asking us kindly to leave because of the private party, he dragged me out by my collar and caused a scene. I went back for a group outing to try to give them a second chance and they didn’t let us in the bar because of the bouncers small ego. The owner who bartends also supported him in turning down a group of 12. If you are a woman - highly recommend avoiding this place as it’s a very unsafe place for women to go. Only sad alcoholics go here. :
The Outback Saloon has grown to be one of my favorite places to hang out. The main attractions that keep me coming back are the pool tables, Karaoke nights, and the Open Mic which just started back up recently. The community here is diverse and friendly. All sorts of folks come here and the vibe is, in my experience, very laid back. They also have ski ball, jenga, and shuffle board. If that isn't enough to keep you entertained there is a business right next door for Axe throwing. The well drinks are very affordable and the staff gets it done. Definite fan girl right here. Thanks Outback Saloon!
The kareoke DJ had a "freestyle" way of picking who was next in the kareoke line. We waited 2 hours because our song wasn't good enough. The bartender took 20min to take our drink order, it was crowded. But there is no excuse. Weak drinks too. Its a college bar. Its great if youre 21 and at the university. Its terrible if youre an adult and want some kareoke on Friday night. Its also so needlessly loud. You have to shout to someone else to talk to them. Im getting older33, but I know when its too loud. I go to kareoke frequently. Its clearly just a college bar. Let the college kids go there. Avoid it if you're over 25.
I really enjoy the crowd at this bar and bartenders are nice and typically on point. Haven’t tried the food. Only issue I have is the prices are high especially bc I find their drinks to be weak as well and it’s middle shelf for the well drinks. Wish they’d do real pours and not use the pre measured guns or whatever. Besides that it’s a nice bar.
It’s all good! The food, the bar service, the prices, and the pool tables. Best part of the Outback is the friendly people & atmosphere. Enjoy!
