This was definitely fine dining and we loved the experience. The menu encourages you to order their three course menu. But one person can order the three course and another one can order a side dish if not too hungry. Ask for a table by the window to get the lake views. They do have outdoor dining on the patio but it looks and feels more casual. Our host John was awesome, and got us a great table. Erica was our server and she was amazing. She even brought us dessert and glasses of champagne to celebrate our special occasion. Recommend reservations. It’s located inside the fairmont jasper park lodge. They are really good with making adjustments for gluten allergies. And the food was awesome! Lots of gluten free options and they are great with substitutions.
Scallops and bread were amazing. Fan favorite! Dissolved in mouth and the salad with it was great. Would skip the lobster if we visited again due to the small portion of lobster given flavor was good but lobster was rubbery. Had the specials, rack of lamb and burger, both very good; however the steak fries with burger were undercooked and fry. Cocktails were also good.
I just enjoyed a Father’s Day meal at this restaurant and the service and food was top notch. Our server John provided his expertise guiding us through everything from wine selection to describing the menu in detail. His delivery just added to the entire meal that was a dining experience I won’t forget. A great meal in a great location
We had a group of about 16 people for a birthday dinner and although the food itself was good, the service was what ruined the experience for us. Every question the server asked us was an attempt to upsell and didn’t appreciate the way we were pressured into upgrading from the menu. My parents, who’s English is limited, half the time did not even know what they were agreeing to and the server definitely took advantage of that. At the end, some of the dinners ended up being double what the initial cost was. Not only that, but at the end, we waited over 45 minutes for the server to separate our bills and even then there were so many mistakes in the division. When we asked for them to be corrected, we waited another 20+ mins for it to be brought back. Disappointing service that overshadowed what could have been a great dining experience.
I was lucky enough to dine at Orso with Carly being my server. She was lovely, knowledgeable and made incredibly helpful recommendations. The atmosphere was spectacular, as were the views. All the staff that touched our table were friendly, courteous and attentive. Will definitely return!
This experience was beyond what I can express here in words. Our server Kieran was amazing! We put our full faith in his judgement as to what wine to pair with our 3 course meal and he more than came through. The meal and experience has ensured that we will be coming here again and will be asking for him specifically. As I mentioned before, words can not express how amazing this experience was.
A real treat. I work at the “competition” in the area and booked at Orso for a romantic dinner with my wife away from my “every day life”. As European foodies we very much appreciate high quality Italian food. It was amazing, we treated ourselves with a good bottle of wine and had the three course tasting menu. It is not cheap but worth every cent. Kiran was an attentive server, very friendly and knowledgeable and a great sales man We will be back in September for a birthday celebration
Wonderful dining experience! We both had the 3 course and added a ribeye to share, it was a lot of food but all incredibly delicious, one of the best steaks I’ve had. Our server Erika was fantastic and made excellent wine recommendations and created a very enjoyable dining atmosphere. Loved it, we will be back next visit!
The food here is amazing!!! Top notch ingredients, spiced perfectly and presented in a fantastic way. Fine dining without being pretentious. The view of the lake adds to the experience. Staff are super friendly, everything is very clean. Interesting playlist choice...but that just added another thing to chat/laugh about during the meal. We will for sure be eating here again!
We loved our experience at Orso. Carly was awesome, she provided a stellar service. The food was very good and I especially loved the tiramisu that was prepared on the spot :
