The Emergency care facility is terrible. Showed up at 12pm. At 5 pm told me they were closed and they couldn't see me. No updates or anything. Just an I can go to a 24hr care or come back tomorrow. To what wait again all day? No thank you. Giving excuses of one doctor. How about you have more then one doctor for an EMERCANY CARE FACILITY. Then if you perceive even the slightest bit annoyed by them saying they cannot see you after 6hrs of waiting, they get the security guard in a second flat.
This review is mainly a result of Higgs and Dot Sheppard destroying our provincial healthcare system. Please elect a competent government so this and other hospitals in NB can improve. You will never be seen by a doctor here. Don't waste your time.
Although I unfortunately didn’t get to see a doctor during my visit… I would like to express how wonderful the security guard was. Who went out of his way to welcome a lady to “OPH” when she asked for directions because it was her first visit. And who tried to entertain and occupy young children who were distraught over getting their vitals in the hallway playing Peek a boo. I wish I caught his name, but whoever was working security in emerge OPH the morning of Nov 22nd/22. Please know I acknowledged your extra effort and it will always stay with me
Waited in the ER all day. Was sent home without seeing a doctor. Needed about 10 minutes of their time. I wish they were a little bit more honest about the likelyhood of being seen. They were letting people in near the end of shift, without even hinting that they would not be seen today.
You won't get seen. Period. Don't bother unless you're dying. I think my thumb is broken. Showed up at 9am. 6.5 hours later, just 1.5 before closing they told me there was still 9 people ahead of me. The waiting room was incredibly cold and uncomfortable to the point I felt nauseous after just a couple hours.
Hi... I'm 70 years old and I had my first surgery todayDAY SURGERY. I was a little frightened and somewhat apprehensive. From my entrance to my exit, the professional attitude by every person I was in contact with, was amazing. There were a lot different people, all doing different things. They did their jobs well, and they all made me feel so comfortable. I really don't want to go back again, but if I do, I would be happy if the same people looked after me. 0 . From the second I
Took my 1 year old to hospital day before and today waited 3 hours 1st visit and waited 6 hours 2nd visit. Was never seen for both. They put my baby and myself in the isolation room when he was tested negative. Other very sickly people in the same room as us. Nurse told me when I asked for a glass of water I had been nursing my baby for 5 hours with nothing to drink that I needed to have my own water but if I drink I will be exposing myself. Last I checked the masks weren’t to protect yourself but to protect others around us so either way 50/50 chance getting sick from the others coughing around us. No one checked in on us. Nothing. I waited with my baby who I brought in the day before for the same thing and was never seen any sooner. I left after waiting 6 hours because no one was being called no one was moving. Nothing!!! Something has to be done. I shouldn’t be leaving the hospital crying feeling hopeless for myself and my child because after 6 hours still no sign of being seen. They close at 4pm and there was too many people. Not sure how they can do this to sick helpless people. The rules inside the isolation room says to “stay in the room/ waive at the camera for assistance.” I waived and waived after 4 hours of waiting in silence and still no one came to see me or talk to me. I called front desk they said if someone can come see you they will. No one ever came. I was there at 8am. This is a sign that no matter what time you get there or how sick you are you there’s no guarantee you’ll see the doctor for your much needed help. I feel like someone has to be dying to get seen at a reasonable time. 1 doctor for the whole hospital. How does that work?So disappointed. Can’t believe I left crying feeling so helpless for my child and I. Rating -0 Update- I had no choice but to go to Fredericton hospital to be seen. My son was dehydrated and having to wait in isolation room with nothing for my son to eat or drink wasn’t even allowed to eat/drink in isolation room having us wait 9 hours did more harm than good for my baby. Oromocto hospital could’ve taken our situation more seriously but no doing so resulted in my son having to go through iv rehydration due to lack of eating and drinking there was more to our situation but waiting 9 hours to be seen made my child more ill. Thankful for the nurses and doctors in Dr.Everett Chalmers Hospital for taking my son’s situation more serious and helped me and my child.
This hospital is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Constant lack of funding in this province. Hospital is dirty and staff constantly just sitting there and does nothing as there is only one dr on duty. What’s the point of having a bunch of nurse doing absolutely nothing, where are the RN… where is the service…. No ability to use judgment and if you have a flu or cold symptoms you will be place in isolation left there with other people coughing like COVID is the only respiratory illness one could have. Forget about getting any care if you have one of those. Dr are great but seriously not worth it unless your dying at which point it will probably happen before they see you. NB worst…..
Went to ER today and was treated with kindness and care from all 8 staff members that took care of me.Was in and out and very thoroughly checked out.My experience at OPH have always been very positive. Thank you for your care.
Tried to put my newborn in the covid quartine area with sick patients after 3 negative tests. These people are negligent and this place should be shut down.... people waiting In hallways, begging for doctors attention. Extremely disorganized. Wait times so long people are leaving without seeing doctors... unacceptable, if I could give less then one star I would....
