Gotta love this 9 hole Stanley Thompson design. Very walkable rolling-hilled course. I particularly enjoyed the 4th par 3. The green is bowl shaped and sloped strongly left to right. Of course the 9th has the view of cooke’s bay. The bunkers were in very good shape. I wonder if the bunkering has changed over the years?
Love this 9-hole course; it provides enough challenges for most golfers. Staff are very friendly and the course is well kept! You can always play a repeat 9 for doubling the fun. Fall colours are nice there too.
Played this morning first time. Course is an amazing layout with good little hills, great shape fairways and greens. Staff well organized and pace of play was perfect. Well definitely be back.
Orchard Beach is such a nice course, we enjoyed playing afew rounds enjoying the sun. The staff are so nice and always willing to help. The course is well maintained and the greens are pristine I'm looking forward to going back next year with some friends
Challenging par 72. Only 9 holes at this course but repeated for 18. The greens are very tough, but well maintained. Owner and starter are your typical pushy type so their business can flow through smoothly.
The course is in excellent shape, nice fairways, slow greens but nice and friendly. Played it first time this year. I’d give the course a 4 out of 5 however the marshal/ cart person was a 1 out of 5 which brings my score down to a 3. Arrived at the course when the weather was poor, drizzle falling and virtually no one there. We were a foursome and when we went off the first tee there was no one in the parking lot. After just the first hole the Marshal came up in a cart and told us to speed up as he expected many people were being held up, however we couldn’t see anyone behind us. All 4 of us are good golfer so we were not playing slow. However as we got to the 5th hole we noticed it was the Marshal and his buddies, all in carts behind us. There was no one being held up but the Marshal playing his free round. As would have it they never caught up as they were goofing around on the greens behind us. We finished the round in under 2 hours so speed was not a problem. Love the course but get a Marshal who doesn’t use his role to give priority to himself and his buddies to play a round during the middle of the day. Really we are paying customers. Since my post above, I received a call from the owners of the course who graciously offered a return round of golf to compensate for the experience I had previously with the marshal. To the owners, thank you for taking the time to consider my comments. To me this gesture speaks very highly of the people at the club and the fact that they take their customer service seriously. I have since be back to play and had a great experience and would definitely recommend playing this course. It is very nice to see a business that takes its customer care seriously and would take every step to ensure a experience worthy of a nice memory.
Just a fun time. Folks working there always smiling and were just fun to talk to. Course is a very relaxing and overall good time.
We booked a tee time for the afternoon, there was three of us and a fourth person was added to our group by the golf course. We arrived early and received a short run down of the course. We were told we had to wait as the fourth person was not here yet. We waited for another 15 min. This put us behind schedule. At this time our tee time had come and gone. They told us to get started and the lady would catch up, which she did. She was a very good golfer and we are beginners we let that lady go ahead of us. At the second hole we let another single player go ahead as he was moving much faster he was by himself, there was three of us. At the third hole a little angry man scooted over to us, legs apart hands on his hips. it was the general manage. Without introducing him self he told us we were taking too long and that we had people behind us. He was very confrontational and condescending. I told him that I was a beginner and that we had let two players go ahead of us. He told us that if the hole was a 4 par, we could hit the ball 4 times and if it took more than 4 tries, we needed to move past the hole to the next. I told him that if he didn't like beginners at his course he should of let us know as we told the front desk multiple times. He than said he didn't have time to ask those questions when taking bookings. This man was offensive and condescending. The fact is, we were not drinking or carrying on. I was there with my father and my sister to have a nice afternoon, to enjoy the sun and each others company. This should have been addressed in a more professional manner. First he should have introduced himself, second apologized for keeping us waiting for the fourth player which put us behind and every person after us behind. He should have asked if we didn't mind letting faster players go ahead of us. In this case he would have learnt that we were doing exactly that and we didn't want to hold up anyone's game. It's a shame we were treated so poorly by the general manager, you would think someone of his age in his position would have a little more training in customer service. This is not a great way to start off the season nor is it a great way to welcome back customers after a very trying time for many businesses. After the experience with the general manager it was hard to ignore the other short comings of this golf course such as the mud patches on the green, the brush littered on the course from freshly cut trees and the rundown looking clubhouse.
Great 9 hole Stanley Thompson designed golf course. Reasonably priced and not overcrowded.
Nicely maintained course with a great view of Lake Simcoe. A forgiving course for amateur golfers like myself. Staff are friendly and helpful.
