Really helpful with suggestions while ordering. Great lunch spot - Cant go wrong with their wings and dill potato salad! Wing meat was falling off the bone and you were able to put your own sauces on. I got the regular size. About 10 wings for $14.99. Sandwiches averaged about $12.50/piece with a side. Everything is smoked and made In house.
My husband and I have eaten at old southern before and it was pretty great! Unfortunately last night I took a lb of brisket and an order of rib tips to go, and it wasn’t so great.. The brisket was well done and didn’t taste like it had been smoked at all. Frankly it tasted -and had the texture- of roast beef and not brisket we were super disappointed especially at $23 dollars per pound of brisket. The rib tips were good. Not sure if I wanna risk going back here to get brisket though sadly..
Smells AMAZING as soon as you walk in the door it's hard not to become immediately hungry. Love the wings, order them sauceless so you can add any of the sauces on the table as you go. Hard to choose a favorite.Food: 5/5
The food at the place was great! I got the quarter chicken platter and it was tasty. The chicken was well cooked and not dried at all. I tired all of their bbq sauces and I would say my favorite was the Chicago Fire. I'm more on the spicy slide when comes to sauces. My second sauces choice would be the Dixie Red because of the hint of smoke to it. Lastly, the staff keeps this place clean and presentable. They check on you to see how you're liking the food as well. I would recommend stop by here for some food. I was debating of coming to Old Southern abbq or Raising Canes, but I'm glad I stopped at Old Southern BBQ.
The food was amazing. Customer service was also really great. Everything was very clean and the vibes were great. I would recommend getting the Ribs and the Mac and cheese. So good.Food: 5/5
We love bbq and this place didn't let us down. The portions are quite satisfying. Staff is friendly and helpful. We tried the Soul Bowl and the Memphis Bowl. And we can not wait to try more dishes. We were happy to see that the menu has GF options. The location has plenty of parking in front and it's easy to find.
Brisket was very tender. Mac and cheese was creamy. Clean atmosphere, friendly staff. Dietary restrictions: Sauces are all gluten free.
For the record, I don't really care for BBQ. However, this joint became my go-to and will be in my regular rotation. Fantastic food. Best BBQ and sides in the twin cities. Great staff and atmosphere. You won't be disappointed. Kid-friendliness: Several great options for my 7 yo.
The food was just ok. I tried the 2 meat platter. Pulled pork and brisket. The meat was tender but flavorless. The brisket tasted like a regular roast out of the oven. The Mac and cheese was good. Hot, very cheesy and nice crunchy topping. I feel like they could step up the Mac and cheese by adding Smokey bacon bits and they would have a signature side. Corn bread was also good.
This is perfect for a quick lunch stop. So unique and the service was amazing. I made contact with three different staff who all were super sweet and accommodating.
