Overall a very nice restaurant. Cozy atmosphere and very good food. Quite a large varied menu. The pan seared cod was delicious. Flaky and cooked perfectly. The salmon looked just as good. Only minor complaint is serving the dirty ice from a drink in a plastic cup. I never had it served that way before and for me it’s a little tacky. I will definitely return to try more options as the ones we had were so good.
I'm from the Hartford area and visited Old Post Tavern for my grandmother's funeral reception. The private room upstairs was just the right size for our group, the staff was attentive and accommodating, and the food was good. While the upstairs private room is accessible by elevator, parking isn't the best and for those in our party who are mobility impaired, it was a little dicey getting in and out of the building. I would encourage others with similar needs to plan accordingly. Otherwise, the experience was a positive one and I'd happily go back.
I get my associates catering from here. Food is great and you can place the order a day in advance. Always hot and they help bring the food to my car!
Stopped here for dinner while passing through town. Was seated right away, service was attentive, and food was delicious. Highly recommend the calamari and guacamole and chips for an appetizer and either the teriyaki steak, chicken parm, or a flatbread pizza as an entree. Would return next time in town.
Second time here and it was great. Food was excellent, cedar plank salmon and filet mignon. The bar was noisy because of a New Year's Eve crowd, but during our previous visit it was quite. Highly recommended!
