My multi-year, 'repeat client' experience had both positive and negative aspects.nIn short, it was disappointing that an independent, family-run company didn't have more compassion and flexibility given our circumstances.nOur family, unfortunately, lost three loved ones in the span of 8.5 years. Ogden was entrusted with all three, my grandfather being the first. He had prepaid for both his and my grandmother's funeral expenses several years before he passed away. In my opinion, Ogden's arrangements and professionalism for his funeral in 2015 were incredible and worthy of 5 stars. I say the same for the second my aunt's in January 2020, especially as her passing was rather sudden and unexpected. Kevin and Scott, in particular, were both extremely professional and overall wonderful to liaise with, as were the others.nWhen my grandmother passed in January 2024, as I mentioned, her arrangements had been prepaid. In the years before her passing, her wishes were that no service or visitation was to be held. These aspects of the arrangements had already been prepaid, but I found Ogden to be very difficult and unreasonable when the time came, and we expressed that we weren't going to have a visitation or funeral. They were charging for it anyway, and while I understand that this was stipulated in the original prepaid agreement, I would have thought that the family-run company would be more understanding, especially seeing as this was our third loved one entrusted to them in less than a decade.nIn the end, I believe the matter was argued but resolved satisfactorily; however, I unfortunately have been left with an overall unfavourable impression of Ogden.
My family recently used Ogden Funeral home for 2 family members. Overall, their service and staff are very kind, patient and understanding. I’ve never done anything like this before. Funerals are very stressful and so I would recommend a check list of everything that needs to be done as it’s difficult to think during stressful and sad circumstances. Helpful suggestions were made by the staff and everything turned out very well. Special thank you to Hanna who was extremely kind and helpful.
Ogden Funeral Homes has made everything so simple and easy to navigate during a stressful and emotional time. I am grateful for the work that they do and for helping to bring families together during devastating and heartbreaking losses. At Ogden, the entire staff and especially Scott went above and beyond to make a difficult time feel manageable, guiding my family with patience and sensitivity through every detail.
