Amazing, unforgettable, incredible. Each guide lent their knowledge, expertise, passion and experience to the trip in such a great way. What an amazing group of guides for such a beautiful trip. Just what I needed to get off of dry land, hang out on this beautiful river for a week and reconnect with the beauty of nature! I already miss the sound of the rushing river outside my tent!
I can’t speak highly enough about our trip on the Lower Salmon. It was spectacular. Beautiful scenery, awesome rapids and the best guides. The team was so knowledgeable and just a blast to be around. We saw big horned sheep, bald eagles and lot of different types of birds. We took this trip to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday so they threw him a party at camp. So sweet! The food was also top-notch. I’m a vegetarian and they were so accommodating. I was a little nervous going into the trip - this was my first white water trip and I wasn’t sure what to expect in regards to the rapids. But the guides made me feel so safe and comfortable that I quickly got over the fear and just enjoyed being on the water. : I highly, highly recommend OARS . They are legit.
Just finished an OARS trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon, my second OARS trip. Everything was excellent, again. Can’t wait to take another OARS trip. The Middle Fork exceeded already high expectations. The country is gorgeous, the river is constant fun and the OARS guides were terrific.
My 15 year old son and I went on the 4-day Snake River rafting trip. To the OARS crew/guides: thanks for everything! We appreciated and were impressed by their professionalism, courtesy, tenacity, teamwork, and knowledge of not just the landscape, but the history as well. The food was great - they also accommodated a couple of vegetarians in our larger group. Pictures and videos do the river no justice - it must be seen in person!
Wonderful experience for me and my 11yr old son! We did the gorges of the lower salmon river and it was amazing!
Did a lower Salmon trip with OARS, everything was top-notch. The guides were wonderful and made sure that we had a great time while also keeping safety as a top priority. I was on a SUP for the entire trip and our SUP guide was fantastic--extremely knowledgable and a great teacher. Everything about the trip was amazing--the scenery, the people, the food.
After an amazing 2 week Grand Canyon trip with OARS in May of 2014, my friends and I took our guide's advice Ashley Brown that we should do the Middle Fork of the Salmon. We were really happy when we showed up in Stanley, Idaho this July 2015 to find that Ashley was our trip leader! It felt like seeing family again. Stanley is a beautiful little town nestled in a valley at the foot of the Sawtooth Range and the flight in from Boise was a treat, as was the flight to our Indian Creek put-in the next morning. It is really hard to describe how great these OARS trip are, but I have to say that the guides are really wonderful people to be around...they are totally committed to making sure the guests have the best possible experience at all times. They are friendly, knowledgable of local history and geology, extremely skilled boatmen, and live the kind of lifestyle that most of us mere mortals can only dream of while sitting at our desks at work. OARS, as an outfitter, is undoubtedly the most organized and experienced company I have ever had the pleasure to travel with. After 2 flawlessly run wilderness trips, I cannot recommend them highly enough. The river itself was magnificent. We had two oar boats, two paddle boats and 6 inflatable kayak "duckies". The duckies were way more stable than I had thought they would be and so much fun, I wished I had spent more time in them. Along the river we visited Native American petroglyphs and natural hot springs. At camp we were treated to great, hearty meals and the wonders of the "dutch oven" which never ceased to amaze, with pineapple upside-down cake, lasagne, chocolate lava cake...I am not sure how they do it...but am glad that they do, as each and every meal was a treat. There are so many wonderful experiences and memories from this trip, that I could go on and on...but I think the only thing I will add is, at the end of the trip, when you get to Salmon, go to Jaxonbilt Hats on the main street of town, just by the bridge over the Salmon River...and order you self a custom fit straw hat with horsehair band...like the one your guides undoubtedly wore on the trip. Our whole group did and it is a great hat and a wonderful souvenir for a really fun trip.
Hello River People----our 6 member group out of 17 participants participated in the Snake River through Hell's Canyon trip over 5 days/4 nights in late June. Despite temperatures over 100 degrees every day and 116 degrees in the shade one day at lunch, our entire group would do this trip again in a heartbeat! Everything from the guides, great food, variety of watercraft, star-filled nights, and the groover were beyond compare! OARS demonstrated that they are a 1st class operation and the trip went off like clockwork and without a hitch. We have been talking about doing a trip with them for the past 3 years and if you are waiting, don't. This trip has a nice variety of water from Class 4 to slower moving water so it offers something for everyone. Our group had ages ranging from an 8 year old to the mid 70's so come one and all, you won't be disappointed!
As a 73 year old woman with limited mobility i was most anxious about taking my 50 year old son on his birthday celebration. The Snake River trip was wonderful. The guides were most attentive to my needs. And i am sure i got extra attention! They knew about the environment, were great cooks, and could sing and dive! I highly recommend O.A.R.S and would encourage a more aggressive white water river than the Snake. Thank you O.A.R.S's for this most memorable adventure. Harriet, Cambridge as
This, Idaho Main Salmon, was my second rafting trip with OARS. It was as was the one on the Rogue Wild & Scenic FANTASTIC. The gear, the guides, the food & drink, the tours & hikes of historical places along the river ... all outstanding once again. The guides know their river and how to navigate it.
