I have been coming here for a few years now. If you have prescriptions of some sort (I had acne medicine), be prepared to potentially call frequently and check up on the status of your prescriptions, especially if you need a prior authorization. It may be because in my case it was only acne medicine, so it was not life threatening, that it took so long to finally get. I was prescribed Benzaclin, a combination medicine of benzoyl peroxide & clindamycin that can treat acne. I figured it would be EZ to get my medicine, but it actually took over a WEEK to get my prior authorization for Benzaclin (called frequently, explained my situation, asked where they were in the process of getting a prior authorization, was basically told what I knew - whatever was in my file's notes, that they'd write another note and send it back to the physicians, and that I should receive a call from the MPs). A prior authorization is needed when the medicine the doctor is prescribing isn't on the formulary (list of covered medicines), or when there is an alternative medicine that is cheaper than can do the same thing. A little after a week, I call again and tell them that I have been waiting over a week for my medicine. Finally, the lady on the phone tells me that she will set it as URGENT and TOP PRIORITY. This works. Now, the prior authorization goes through, but I find out that the medicine my doctor prescribed me will not be covered by the insurance company. Sad. So my doctor prescribes me only 1 of the medicines - clindamycin phosphate. An antibiotic for skin. Part 2. I call and ask to be prescribed the other medicine by itself (a benzoyl peroxide wash) since I figure I can just obtain the two medicines separately and use them together. That was over a week ago, and I called today to check (because after my first experience, I realize it takes things a WHILE to get through. I'm guessing the large volume of patients). I was told it was sent to my pharmacy. Great! Call my pharmacy, and turns out they sent another prescription for the FIRST medicine that is NOT covered!!! I clearly said on the phone that I wanted the benzoyl peroxide wash, and of course, I had explained my situation from the top - the Benzaclin prescription, the prior authorization, the back and forth calling, the waiting - only to be sent another prescription for the medicine that isn't covered. Back to square 1 now - waiting. In short, it is frustrating having to call frequently and be told someone will call you back - only they never will. The people here mean well but if you have medicine or need a prescription, don't trust them to make sure you receive it in a reasonable time (if at all!). You need to be on top of things. I get the impression that because of the volume of patients, my requests/notes/whatever get lost in the system.
