Fall #1 of six waterfalls in six days. The approach to this fall is the most knee-friendly. It was an easy trail with an a gentle ascent. We let the sound of the waterfall guide us in direction. When we finally reach the viewing area of the fall, it was hard to stop the big grin on my face when presented with the openness of the vista and the roaring sound. It's mesmerizing. If not for the rain, we might have stood there forever.
Arrive around 7 pm and only a few cars in parking lot. Enough room for 20 or so vehicles. Cloudy sky , sun would appear so often. Trails are great different spots for different levels of hiking. Short walk from car and many places to hang out and enjoy the moments .
Excellent hike to the falls! The density of the trees at one point makes it feel like you're walking through a forest without an actual path. Once you hit the main falls, the trail extends along the river with various viewpoints the farther down it you do. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Beautiful little waterfalls. Awesome during the summer because you can casually sit in a little rock crater and cool down with the glacial waters. Wonderful getaway from the hot city! Parking lot can get very clogged during the busy season summer as everyone and their grandmother goes here for walks. Carpool with your friends ‍‍ Some other facts: Dogs - leashing is optional River trail is CLOSED to the plague known as cyclists; there are other trails in the area for cyclists specifically designated Rocks can be covered with a film of algea and get slippery, this makes for a dangerous situation with children or weak swimmers. Use caution! Currents may sweep you off your feet sometimes.
It's a must see when you are in Courtenay. Has a nice loop trail to hike. And the falls.. epic spot for photography, has spots for swimming when safe... during summer.
This is a great place for everyone as long as you don't have major mobility issues. Make sure you know how to swim, some areas are safer than others. I would also recommended a good pair of shoes for walking. Don't miss walking to Barber's Hole, awesome place to go swimming but some sections are not easy to access. It's about 2.5.hr drive up island from Victoria.
Nice blue green water and falls. Was nice to deep your feet in warm weather. Be careful in the hole while doing some swimming as it may go deeper.
Beautiful place to go for a walk! Wheelchair accessible, bike and children friendly. Restrooms: Outhouses
Beautiful waterfall, a lot of space for family and friends hang out. We take the kids went for a long hike, no see any mosquito.
Beautiful walks and some great spot on the river for playing in the water during the summer.
