A once in a lifetime experience. We felt so blessed to have a the opportunity to visit this wonderful place despite the lengthy journey from Paris. I’ve been to other Marian sanctuaries including the Guadalupe and Fatima, yet enjoyed this one the most. The Sanctuary is breathtaking and the minute you walk in you can feel the peace and beauty that lies inside. There were so many pilgrims yet everything was so well organized that at no point did we feel overwhelmed. The group of volunteers is unlike anything I’ve seen before and the main Basilique is astonishingly beautiful. We enjoyed attending mass in the early morning - and were rejoiced to attend one in our native language on Saturday along with confessions. The visit to the Grotto was absolutely special and the evening procession can’t be put into words - something you have to experience to describe. We stayed for two full days and three nights, which I highly recommend so you can absorb the experience without feeling rushed.

Beautiful serene place to revive your religious spirit. Lots of events happening throughout the day and in different languages. Daily Eucharistic procession at 5pm. Daily candlelight rosary procession at 9pm. Very touching processions. Masses held in various languages in the chapels and Basilica of Immaculate Conception, Basilica of the Rosary, etc. The grotto is beautiful and has Masses and rosaries said at the Grotto. Definitely worth the visit. Lots of shops selling religious, good quality items. Very friendly and safe place overall.

Praise the Lord! I was there along with my family in December 2022. It was an amazing experience. The church the Grotto of our lady and the surroundings are extremely beautiful and have a holy feeling. We are blessed to have this opportunity. Beautiful architecture! Certainly can be appreciated even if you aren't religious. Fantastic experience with walking The Way Of The Cross too up the mountain to the Grotto. Parking is a little tricky limited street parking on the south side road, and the entrance is on the east side for tourists. On the south side there is an entrance that you can go in, but you don't want to disrupt if they are having a service. The church is fenced so I suggest parking on the east side, by the river and walking. There are public restrooms that way by the museum as well.

I was blessed to be able to visit during my last pilgrimage in France. There is a daily Marian procession in the evening that's been happening for hundreds of years. There are daily confessions in multiple languages in a building across the water so that's always available. Pre-covid there is also an opportunity to be dunked in the water from the fountain but now it's just water poured from a jug that you wash yourself with. It is definitely worth a visit for anyone in south west France, especially if you're Catholic.

This holy church is very peaceful and fantastic area. The holy water is came up from the ground its believe that can cure the sickness of people. The surrounding was very incredible too.

We went back to Lourdes crossing the Pyrenees mountains covered in fresh snow coming from Spain. We like to walk near the river from the entrance to the basílicas and the grotto. We were able to attend a Rosary for World peace in five languages. Each basilica has unique characteristics to explore. #AbuelosMochileros

The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes or Sanctuary of Lourdes is a Catholic shrine and Marian place of pilgrimage located in Lourdes, Hautes-Pyrénées, France. It is made up of several religious buildings and places of prayer on the site of the Marian apparitions of Lourdes which took place in 1858, during which the young Bernadette Soubirous saw Saint Mary on several occasions, apparitions recognized in 1862 by the Catholic Church. . The sanctuary includes the cave of Massabielle, place of the apparitions, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, the Basilica of the Rosary, the Basilica of Saint-Pie-X, the surroundings of the Gave, an esplanade, a meadow, a reception for the sick , fountains and swimming pools, the Sainte-Bernadette church, a monumental Stations of the Cross and several service buildings. The site is famous for the source of water that springs from the cave since the apparitions and for the miraculous healings that this water is said to have caused. Millions of pilgrims go there every year to show their devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes, including many sick and disabled people who are welcomed by the Hospitality of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Just before sunrise pilgrims streaming in for a mass at the crypt. Briefly heard the gospel read, drop by the water gesture and lighted a candle of prayer for peace joy and health! Check out the daily activity schedules by language to make it easier to plan out your day at the Sanctuaire.
