I was really pleased with my visit today. This is a great place to spend an hour. There is a world-class arrowhead collection numbering in the hundreds or even over a thousand. In another part of the museum, there are some wonderful original Native clothing and artifacts, various taxidermy animals, and exhibits on the great wars. Beyond that, some exhibits on Prairie life, and several tractors and old cars on display- including a Ford Model T. I was the only visitor at about 11AM on a Wednesday. There are unusual opening hours so do check before you.
A real gem in Airdrie.. it had a subtle exterior but it is PACKED with interesting things to see and learn about. Very well put together displays, and a nice intuitive path around the varied areas. The garage in particular is super interesting! Highly recommend.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Very interesting regional museum. There is quite a lot of history packed in here. I think what was most fascinating to me personally was the topographical map of the Nose Creek valley water shed. The different elevations are quite intriguing and show the variations in land in the area. I also really enjoyed the Ford model T as well as the honking large Cadillac!
Very surprised to see how many exhibits this little museum has on display. We were there for Remembrance Day. They had an outdoor memorial site for people to honour the brave Canadians who sacrificed themselves for peace and freedom. There was also a Remembrance Day special exhibition. We enjoyed a walk in history, seeing old washing machines, old shops, old computer equipment, along with many other things. A good place for families to have a great history lesson.
It is not about the quantity but the quality. Very small but extremely informative museum that gives you a good idea of what settlement meant. A must see for those that live in Calgary and Airdrie. I hope you will find the same lady as we did, the story was amazing
This is quite a gem of a museum. We Googled what to do in Airdrie for a Day Trip from Calgary and the museum was one. It's situated along Main Street next to Nose Creek Regional Park. Beautiful park! Admission is by cash donation. There is quite a bit of history about the area packed inside. Many artifacts including Indigenous collections. Washing machines and other household items from a bygone era. Manual typewriters I learned to type on one as a teen and many interesting pieces of office equipment. A section in honour of our military and more. I recommend visiting this museum.
Is not the biggest museum, but they have a lot of interesting stuffVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Small but nice museum. You will see a topographical map of Airdrie and surrounding area and how it looked like in the olden times. It depicts some places in the early 1900 like a convenience store, an elementary school, a barber shop, a local house and some items from the world wars in addition to local wildlife and animals.
The Museum is very well laid out and when we went, there were very knowledgeable guides that, if you agree, teach you everything you need to know about each display and their history! We valued our experience and the kids loved it!
It was a cute small museum about the prairie and the admission is free!! The staff is so nice i enjoyed my time there. It will take less than hour to see everything in detail.
