Northern Pacific Railway Museum
"Our museum depicts what it was like when the Northern Pacific ran through Toppenish in the early 20th Century. The depot has been remolded as it was when it was built in 1911. In the yard we have collected numerous train cars from the earlier years. We have 2 locomotives that served in Toppenish in the last 100 years. We have acquired 5 passenger cars that have traveled on the North Coast Limited enroute between Chicago and Tacoma. Every car in our yard has a story to tell and we strive to tell the story so that kids of all ages, even retired kids, can enjoy. Come prepared to spend a delightful 3 hours or more to hear the stories. It is best to reserve a docent via the website to see all we have to offer."

While my reason for going to Northern Pacific Railway Museum is likely different than most, I’d highly recommend it. Dave Cox, one of the associates, was beyond helpful and informative. This crew LOVES being a part of the museum staff and it shows. I was filming scenes for a movie, and I was at the museum each day for an entire week, so we really got to know the place.
Small museum that’s packed with history and artifacts from the NPR. I liked how you could just walk around the yard and look at all the engines and cars. Some have been redone while most look original. We spent an two hours there and it was great
Closed at first approach due to insufficient volunteers -- today's guy was sick. However, one of the restoration carpenters noticed us outside and opened temporarily for a tour. Amazing collection. What they have restored is gorgeous. What they don't has huge amounts of history attached nonetheless. The museum is truly inspiring. Imho, it deserves more volunteers so that more people can visit! Go visit and get inspired!
Very helpful and enthusiastic staff, who took the time to provide a personalized tour. The depot is nicely restored, the telegrapher's office would be a great location for a vintage film shoot or video. The outside exhibits are equally interesting, the steam locomotive restoration project, in the east end of the cleverly renovated freight house is remarkable. A very worthwhile trip
Lots of cool local history! A railfaners playground!
Very nice museum in former railroad station. Highly recommeend visiting in the area. Interesting and educational for the whole family.
The volunteers were great! We got a tour from a very knowledgeable young man. He showed us inside a couple cars and was full of fun knowledge about the history of the pacific NW railroads. Very inspiring for my 9 and 11 year old boys.
Wonderful rail museum a must see for the enthusiast!
Loved the feel of the old times. They have pictures and everything they used back in the old trains. We got to go and walk around the trains also which was pretty cool.
Very well done museum in the former Toppenish Northern Pacific Railway station. Highlights were the memorabilia from the North Coast Limited train, the dispatcher's office, REA office, displays of speeders and tools for track and train maintenance, a section on Pullman cars, and a great collection of passenger and freight cars awaiting restoration. It was well worth a visit.
