Story

Northern Michigan University is a four-year public university located in the heart of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Founded in 1899, NMU has a long-standing tradition of providing exceptional education and being an integral part of the Marquette community. With over 180 degree programs, a student population of approximately 8,000 students, and a variety of notable accolades, Northern is a distinctive and innovative institution of higher education.

Northern has many award-winning leadership programs like Superior Edge and the Student Leadership Fellowship Program (SLFP). Superior Edge focuses on service through its four edges: citizenship, diversity, leadership and real world experience. SLFP is a nationally recognized program committed to developing competent, ethical, and community-centered leaders.
