Northern Cycle has been serving Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, and the surrounding communities in Durham since 1993. We have sponsored a weekly mountain bike race series in Durham forest for many years and continue to do so. We have been involved in numerous community events over the years. My recent trip to Northern Cycle in Ajax on July 26, 2023, left me with a somewhat mixed experience. I was greeted by a friendly staff member who assisted me in my search for a bike rack and storage trunkbag, the overall impression of the store and its offerings fell short of my expectations.nnOn the positive side, the staff's friendliness and willingness to assist were commendable. They were patient with my queries and offered valuable insights into the products I was interested in. Their customer service added a pleasant touch to my shopping experience. I appreciated their efforts to guide me through the available options for the bike rack and trunkbag, although I didn't find what I was looking for.nnThe store's limitations were evident. The size of the shop was quite small, which resulted in the store feeling crowded and with a severely restricted product range. I found myself unable to explore a variety of choices and models for the items I sought.nnWhen I inquired about getting a quote for bike tune-ups, I was taken back by the pricing. The quotes received were not as competitive as those offered by another local bike store. This raised some concerns about Northern Cycle's pricing strategy and made me question the overall value I would receive from their services.nnNorthern Cycle in Ajax has its positives, primarily centered around the friendly staff. However, the store's limited selection and pricing on certain services might make potential buyers think twice before committing to a purchase. While I appreciate the assistance provided during our visit, I would advise others to explore alternative options in the area to ensure they find the best possible products and solutions they are looking for.
Northern Cycle has a fantastic selection of bikes and accessories, with everything from casual bikes to high-end mountain bikes. They have a great variety for mountain and trail riding, but also a good selection of road and commuting bikes. I was impressed with the range of accessories and parts, including pedals, saddlebags, saddles, and clothing.nnMy experience at Northern Cycle was so positive that my spouse ended up buying a bike! We were lucky to visit on a quiet day, which allowed her to browse freely and find the perfect bike. Thank you, Northern Cycle!
I traveled from Toronto to Ajax to pick up my bike and when I arrived it was ready. I was very well attended by Anita who explained everything to me and answered my questions. I recommend it.
I had such a great experience with this business. They definitely know there stuff and as a biking newbie, they made me feel comfortable and equipped. I ordered my bike online and they put it together for me, tuned it, and even installed the couple of extras I purchased separately. What really stood out to me though was when I went to pick it up, the gentlemen brought it outside for me, demonstrated how to take the wheel on and off and even loaded it into my car for me. It was just above and beyond and so incredibly appreciated. I would definitely recommend this place.
Large selection of mainly Trek Bikes. Went looking for luggage carrier, but they were sold out of the style needed. They did recommend bringing bike in to possibly custom fit a carrier on. Would have liked to see more of a selection of luggage carriers and bags.
