North Albion Collegiate Institute

Story

North Albion Collegiate Institute is a high school in the Etobicoke area of the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Toronto District School Board. Prior to 1998, it was part of the Etobicoke Board of Education. Its motto is Virtus, Officium, Vertias .HistoryThe school constructed in 1961 and opened on September 4, 1962 to serve the growing suburb of Rexdale as Etobicoke's eleventh high school and its tenth collegiate. The high school has a variety of different clubs over the years ranging from the student council, year book club, Deca, Model UN, chess club. These clubs have been the foundation of this school since its inception. Although over the years some clubs dissipate as leadership over these clubs varies from year to year, many of these clubs have been around for a long enough period of time to create a culture that is lasting and creates an atmosphere that encourages creativity and success. The sports teams of these clubs have always been vibrant although the selection of athletes have always been limited due to the socio-economic class the school is surrounded by. However, the athletes have always managed to make the sports teams a major cornerstone of the school and has over the years achieved some incredible accolades due to the fostering of these athletes. Most notable is the cricket teams, volleyball teams and basketball teams that have come out from this school. On 23 September 2014, one of the students Hamid Aminzada age 19 was stabbed in the school hallway while he was trying to diffuse a fight among two fellow students. He later died in hospital due to his injuries and excessive bleeding.

The was a school shooting threat on twitter in 2019 on a school day. The police put the teachers in the library with armed officers while they left the students to walk around the school without a warning. No email was sent home warning students. Just showed up to school and had to figure out by ourselves first period. Horrible higher up staff.
Bare mix up with select staff for as long as I can remember. TDSB plays a huge role in facilitating this.
I will speak from my experience, and my experience only. I attended North Albion C.I from September 2013 to June 2017. Despite the hardships like many other schools, I believe this is one of the best high schools in the area. The staff is wonderful, their doors are always open and they do a great job at utilizing the limited tools and resources available. The administration does an excellent job with problem-solving, and supporting senior students. Many of the students are so welcoming and friendly, it feels like home. Camp Tamarack is an amazing experience as well. I was an active student, there are many extra-curricular activities like Dance, Student Council, Athletic Council, African Renaissance Club, Asian Club, Yearbook, Robotics, and Prom Committee. Overall, I can confidently say that there is a lot of spirit embedded within the NACI walls. I would wake up every day and look forward to coming to school, I know a lot of students can't say that – so I'm grateful for the experiences and support I had.
I Attended N.A.C.I. from 2003 to 2007 with a lot of great memories in between. Overall, I would like to personally thank Mr. Boehm and Ms. Gomez for their Computer and Technology courses - both of whom played a major part in inspiring me to learn Graphic Design a skillset I still use to this day professionally. I'd also like to thank Mr. Carter and Mr. Alvi for opening up the weight rooms during lunch breaks and getting me interested in personal fitness.
People giving 5 star and just saying excellent doesn't help giving a positive review about this institution, Be reasonable on your reviews people. The principal and management cut down cost and expenses dramatically on security for almost 2 months back in July 2014. This action of the management lead to a disastrous consequence that led to death of a student back in 23 September 2014. When he was killed there were no police or guards in and around the school. To me it appears this institution is not serious about students security. And don't get me started all the problems and issues arrived after that.
Good school. Great teachers when I attended from 2014-2017 gr 10-12. I've heard all of the good teachers have been forcibly moved to other schools, so it's probably terrible now. The students are friendly and the community here is very close knit. Lots of clubs and sports to get involved in. In terms of sports, we have many championship wins and regional finalist banners in several sports. In academics, we rank fairly high among other schools, but we're nowhere near the top. Some issues: There is a lack of funding in some aspects, like sports, textbooks, classroom materials, etc. The events are usually terrible and lack creativity of any form. Student council usually does nothing but sit on their hands and act as if stuff gets done - the incompetency of some council members is saddening.
Decent school, while I was attending it from 2012 - 2017. You can always repeat courses at night school at C. W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute, it was a lot of fun to go their, especially with friends.
Mr.munchinsky is the Best Teacher at Naci!!
