Nithview Home

My brother is in this ltc home. He has been in excellent health since coming here in June 2025. The staff are quick to do whatever is required to help him. When he,was in a previous ltc in Owen Sound, they were sending him to hospital frequently. His cognition was low and he was near death on more than one occasion. Our family is very happy with Nithview.

Very poor staff members working with the residents in retirement here. Multiple PSWs that dont do anything for the residents living there, multiple PSWs that think they are a nurse, due to being a UCP and giving nursing advice that are out of their scope of practice. Multiple times calling the PSWs and a certain PSW will give you false advice who is a fulltime PSW to them thinking they know nursing practices. The nurse in retirement, is awful and does not care, left a gentlemen that fell on the floor for 35 mins before finally coming, just sitting in the office of his. He should not be a nurse! Very sad that the residents have to be put through that type of service. The ED, Stacey Zehrs does not care and its very obvious, only there to fill the rooms as fast as possible, high turn overs, if you ever meet her, you'll understand.

Lack of integrity. Urinary tract infection is what my mom got also from this home. Not changing briefs like they should. Not drying residents to cut the cost. Bullying and wanting to take power of attorney away for not wanting to sign a no resuscitation form. They dropped it and now using the excuse that I didn’t call them back on the phone the same day! Lying and covering up is what they do best! When my mom needs to go to the hospital they lie and say that she does not need to go! So if you want your loved one to not get the proper care that they deserve, send them here.

The staff here work hard and care about the residents. Small town vibe where everyone knows each other's name, many staff have worked there for years and know the residents and their unique needs well. I see that the organization struggles with staffing-- as does every LTC/retirement home in Ontario -- but this is not evidence of inattentive or uncaring staff. On the contrary, they have some special gems for staff who I've seen go the extra mile for residents.

I was under the opinion that Nithview was a cut above other homes in the area. As it stands residents in long term care are only provided with the bare minimum according to the Retirement act. Which unfortunately does not include provision of toilet paper. Nor do they clean on a daily basis only once a week they will so the floors. Dust bunnies noticed in closets. The tea room has been removed and replaced with offices. The auditorium is used for storage so where do they go for interaction and socialization with one another? Some real concerns that the board should be considering.
