A local introduction to this restaurant and would have never found 1905 on our own. We just had a mid-day coffee meeting, but what a nice place, nice staff and nice setting. Would like to try more of Nineteen05 and see that this hotel has more. Perhaps stay at the hotel, have time to walk the boardwalk, and explore the area. Someone else picked up our cost. I like the new underpass under the rail line. Parking: Parking was free, but my driver that day just parked where he liked.
I have went to the 1905 restaurant a handful of times since moving back to Salmon Arm and the food, service and atmosphere have always been great. This morning I felt the need for brunch and decided to forgo making it myself and have the folks at 1905 take care of that for me. After going through the menu, I decided upon the eggs benny on Bannock with crab cakes and potatoes. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and the atmosphere although rainy and melancholy outside, the staff has smiling and provided great service. The music in the background was probably "Coffee House" playlist but fit perfectly in the mood for that day. Nineteen 05 is considered one of our higher end restaurants in Salmon Arm and although I have been to many large cities and many fancy restaurants in my day, this little restaurant does a great job with their menu.
Beautiful place. Very well ogranized with great interior design. Sit inside or out. Kitchen in plain view. Very nice place. Even though it was very busy, staff kept up and provided great service. Freindly and helpful with recommendations and keeping the glasses full. It is inside the hotel and required a little bit of wandering to find from where we choose to park. Probably a better olace than the front of the hotel, but you dont know what you dont know. Food was fantastic. I had the fish and chips and was one of the best versions i have eaten. Crispy on the outside and perfectly moist and dlaky on the inside. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent and served very fast. The service aldo excellent. The only issue, is that if you don’t know the name, you would never find it, it is located in the hotel, for which we had to ask at the reception.Food: 5/5
Chef doesn’t know what they’re doing. Hopefully this place tanks and some new owners can take over who have some actual food knowledge. The feature pasta was a spaghetti Vongole and when I got it I was surprised because it had no clams - which is literally vongole in Italian. I asked the server and she responded rudely that I must not be from around here because prawns and scallops are vongole in salmon arm. I insisted that had she said the vongole had no clams I would certainly have ordered something else but would not let me change that out. Definitely not worth the $30. Should have gone to Don Cherry’s Pub.
The service gave a perception of indifference. The place was less than a third full, but with only two servers to wait tables, they were not keeping up. We watched our food sit on the counter for a good ten minutes. The chef checked it twice, as if to see why it was still there. I finally flagged down the other server and asked if they could check to see if it was my food sitting on the counter. It was. Besides not loving that my raw food sat for ten minutes, what finally arrived was abysmal. It was not a Poké bowl. It was dreadful. A blob of white rice, strips of tuna on the side, edamame, avocado and some fried crisps. No shredded seaweed, no sesame seeds, no sesame oil, no green onion. The tuna was raw on the inside as expected and cooked on the outside but not seared. How did they even do that? The red sauce that was squirted all over it looked like a crime scene, and made the entire dish unappetizing. I sent my food back. The server asked me twice what was wrong with it. I’ll attach a photo, so you can see what they felt a $27 Poké bowl should look like. My partner ordered two sushi rolls. The first was good but the second was like a pastey tube of compressed rice. The tuna tataki that we were meant to share was lacking the “seared” texture and taste that we know tuna tataki to have. No sesame oil that we could taste and no sesame seeds. The tuna was floating in an orange juice that, while alright, made everything limp. I let the server know that we’d eaten at the restaurant that spring and really enjoyed our food - I told her that just a few months ago the Poké bowl was an actual Poké bowl and we enjoyed our experience. She told us that they’d changed the menu since then. Nope. I don’t think that’s it, the menu looked good, it was definitely the food that is not.
When I came to this restaurant for the first time, I thought the establishment was sophisticated looking. It took me a little bit to get a table, even though it appeared vacant. I ordered the Mango Avocado Benedict with coffee. The coffee was decent, not the best I had. The eggs benedict had a unique taste, especially since it was made on braddock bread. This meal came with cubed hash browns with cherry tomatoes and green onions, which were good. I would come back to this restaurant again to try their other choices.
OKAY...happy to say.... This is such wonderful experience you would think it is a stand alone 5 star restaurant. This was in the Nineteen05 Restaurant. From the top notch smile greeting to seating away from a noisier table to the service to the music level and overall ambiance, it was outstanding. Our waitress was not only super friendly but remembered that we commented on the music on one visit and then CHANGED the music back to that on our next visit. The breakfasts we had 4 were fantastic in presentation and flavor. We especially enjoyed the Eggs Benedict variations all on bannock! VERY beautiful in plating. We also had an outstanding dinner there. Looked and tasted fantastic. Again , great dinner choices bacon wrapped pork tenderloin for me and steak and seafood for my wife and efficient, super pleasant service. All at very reasonable pricing. Your service staff and your chefs cooks and management should be very proud of the professionalism in what they do. We will be back!
I don’t write a lot of reviews but felt the need after our visit to this restaurant. The food was great and the restaurant has fantastic views! However, I have to say the service and the staff was the best part. Our kids talked about how nice everyone was for hours after! While the parents dined on the deck our kids sat inside at the bar, the staff was exceptional to them! They showed them how to make Sushi, talked with them and made their night ultimately! I can’t say enough good things about the experience and this restaurant deserves a higher rating.
Wife and I ordered some steaks, she asked for medium rare as she doesn’t like hers raw. Her steak ended up being rare so we informed the waiter about it. He informed us that they would cook another one and apologized. He took the original steak away and and they ended up just reheating it. We could tell it was reheated because of the char from the burnt gravy, and the existing cut marks of which they flipped the steak so we couldn’t see. Not sure if this is common practice? I mean the steak wasn’t horrible after the fact but it ended up being a little drier and charred from reheating it. Expected just a bit more from a $42 steak. And everything else was great
