What a wonderful afternoon we spent meandering through the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. No rush! We took it slow in a zen like fashion. The beautiful scenery enticing us to sit and relax. Listening to the water falling and making it's way through the garden. With our entrance fee we received a choice of strawberry or mocha cookie with mocha iced tea or orange juice. Very yummy! If you stop in Lethbridge, definitely go check this out!! On the way put we checked the gift store! Lots to see and buy
Zen garden. Staff is super friendly and garden is well maintained. A good 2 hour drive from Calgary. Best time to visit is from 1st week of June to Mid August. Also has water park and a lake adjacent to it. Only takes an hour to get complete tour. Tea ceremony is performed on Sundays though not sure.
The gardens were beautiful! I took more videos then pictures and am unable to upload them. Everything was very well maintained. The trees and bushes were well groomed and soo cute! Make sure you stay on the path and don't pick up the rocks. The staff was very friendly. Would love to come back in different seasons of the year to see the leaves change to fall colors.
What a beautiful experience!! Our first time in Lethbridge was perfect largely in part of this place! We got super lucky with a special event of some traditional dancing! What a lovely bunch of ladies we highly recommend this visit.
The people working there are so friendly and it shows they love what they do. I definitely recommend visiting! Even though it is a small garden, there are so many details and thoughts that went into how it was built. Be sure to try the sumo suits and watch the taiko performance!
This was a really wonderful spot and my first time being at the gardens during the summer. The previous time was during the Christmas lights display which was absolutely incredible. This time was really beautiful and the one comment to my folks made was that this was nicer than gardens that they went to all over Japan. Very cool that my mother noticed that the main building in the gardens looked a lot like what they had in Kyoto. Only to find out that this was actually built and brought over from Kyoto itself. Definitely a nice outing!
The gardens have seen better days, but it is still very calming and pleasureable to walk around. Give your self about 1hr here. The cafe has no really japanese treats manju. The green tea is okay.
This is by far my favourite place to visit in Lethbridge. The garden is stunning no matter what time of year you go, and they often have different events to attend throughout the week. It’s such a relaxing spot to spend a day.
I can't believe I had lived 10 years in Alberta and until recently it's when I learned of the existence of this place! This little piece of Japanese heaven in the middle of the Canadian prairies is mind-blowing. I can't really find words to properly describe the magnificent work that was and it's still being done here. I would have never imagined that evergreens and other plants native to this area could be turned into Japanese style. If I lived in Lethbridge I'd be coming here every weekend! But it was totally worth the drive from Calgary on a beautiful autumn day. I'm very jelaous now that Calgary doesn't have a place like this! Keep in mind they are NOT open all year around. Visit their website to find the details, buy the tickets very affordable and to learn what's permitted to do and what's not. They have a nice cafe where they sell tea that was delicious. We had a refreshing cold mango green tea and peach green tea which was amazing after the warm walk in the garden. There's also a small selection of sugar cookies that I didn't try; but I loved the maple red bean filled cakes called Momiji Manju. There's also a very beautiful souvenir store where it was very difficult not going into debt to buy everything I wanted! I now want to go back for the winter lights, as well as spring! And most likely will make this little trip an annual tradition, we planned for having a meal in Lethbridge too and it was a great day out.
I have to say this is most amazing garden Ive seen in Canada. it very well represent Japanese garden design cues. The little streams and the little temple, plus some bonsai. really is very relaxing while walking through the garden. The pavilion will held different event by weekdays and weekends. our today Monday is showing the Japan martial arts. We so pleasing can find here and it all worth the price. 5 star recommend
