Night Owl Restaurant

Went to this place, and I was the least impressed. We ordered the spicy beef noodle bowl. Receiving our bowls having a foul smell, we began to eat... It was evident the taste was off, so we added salt a lot of it. Discussing the beef brisket in there, it was majority fat which was a disappointment. Lastly, the bowl was filled with oil, and we left feeling gross after. Wouldn't go back

I have to preface this review by saying that I am not the least bit picky when it comes to food. I'll eat anything and I love to try new things. My wife calls me the human garbage disposal. That being said, this place was terrible. Just plain awful. We ordered some skewers to start, and the squid tentacles were like chewing on a tire. Rubbery doesn't even begin to describe how tough they were. The tofu wrapped around the mushrooms had the consistency of chewing a band-aid, and the roll had no flavour at all. The spicy beef rice noodle bowl was pretty much inedible. The brisket in the dish was at least 50% fat, I got the regular noodles and they were so overcooked they had absolutely no texture whatsoever. The broth was completly flavourless, and the only flavour in the dish came from the slick of chili oil that was dumped on top. The menu said it came with a side plate with parsley, green onion, and a 'spiced corned egg', but none of these was offered. My wife ordered the sweet and spicy rice noodles, which came with ground beef, even though the menu said nothing about coming with beef and she doesn't eat red meat. The couple we were with had equally disappointing dishes, and nobody ate more than three or four bites. The service started out alright, with the server offering some suggestions, but once our mains came and he could tell we weren't enjoying ourselves, he avoided us like the plague. Even though there was only one other occupied table, he didn't come by, and just stood in the corner texting. I had to go ask for our bills, and he wouldn't even stay at our table while we paid. He actually walked away while he waited for the credit card machine to process the payment both times. He didn't seem concered that none of us barely eaten anything, and no hint of a discount was offered. I have never had such a terrible restaurant experience. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to post an online restauant review. I hope nobody else has to go through that. I love Asian cuisine and frequent many wonderful restaurants in this city, but avoid this one at all costs. P.S. Google is making me give this place at least one star, but that is being too generous.

Great Asian Fusion Restaurant. The whole family decided to go there for dinner when we heard about this new restaurant. We expected ordinary Asian food but what we've got was anything but. We had their signature dishes Sweet and sour ribs, chicken teriyaki, and pork hock, every single one of them surprised us, tasted awesome and great portions too. We also ordered lots of Teppan yaki skewers. Lamb and squid skewers were great, everyone loved it. The kids didn't like the squid skewers too much but I enjoyed them. We also tried their spicy beef noodle as well as spicy and sour rice noodle. The noodle came with beef brisket, beef was well cooked, great taste and also very tender. The rice noodle came with pork paste on top and their special red chili oil. It was very unique and tastes perfect. The restaurant was nicely renovated from the old burger place, looks nice. Service was above average comparing to other Asian restaurants. I recommend it to everyone who likes to try out different kind of food. Their signature dishes were actually very Canadian to me tho. Gonna go back next week to try out other items on their menu.

hi everyone please DO NOT go to this restaurant. the food do not look like their fancy photos, we went and ordered the rice and pork and the rice and chicken dishes, they were so yucky! tasteless, uncooked and no effort put in. Spent $40 and was the worst experience ever. The waiters are so unprofessional. the food was really inedible. Save your money and go somewhere else this place is the worst, definitely one star too many! thank you

This place was - 2 stars ! Expensive, the menu is not descriptive at all. When we complained about our meals , nothing was done. Should have read previous reviews before wasting time and money here. There were no other customers there the entire we were in this restaurant, the phone rang numerous times, but no one would answer it. All I can say is , to stay away !

Meat was chewy and over seasoned, noodle bowl was oily and full of vegetables that were too big to eat. The prices are ridiculously high for what they offer - a mediocre dining experience.

After the way this company conducted business prior to and after opening their doors I wouldn't go near them and would encourage others to stay away. Unpaid bills and taking advantage of people is a very bad way to start a business.

One star to many. This restaurant and it's owner are not the type of people one would do business with and therefore I would never step into that restaurant. I watched as it was being lovely built inside by the designer and I was astonished that they never paid her for her hard work. What goes around comes around.

Tried calling to place an order for pick up and got hung up on twice. Customer service is terrible on all counts. The food can be alright at times but usually comes hardly put together and falling apart. Not worth it.

Night Owl impressed me by its beautiful and carefully crafted restaurant and while the food has its highs and lows, there were certainly enough unique and tasty offerings here to recommend at least one visit, especially for those yearning for Hong Kong Cafe Style food.
