Tried dim sum at New Empire. Good selection, friendly staff. Taste is close to other dim sum places, no cart just ask for dim sum and they provided a separate meu order form. Would recommend!
We went there for Xiao long bao, however they did not carry any. We got dumplings instead which were okay. Wrappers were very thick . And the only lobster dish they had which was okay ish. 2 stars because cutlery were very very old plus the sake serving set was dirty - had black stains inside.
One of the best Chinese restaurant. They have everything and affordable. This is how all Chinese restaurants should be. Owners are nice. They even gave us gifts for Chinese new year. Every food they serve is done right and fast. Every time we go to Detroit back in forth from Indiana, we stop by this place. I’ve been many Chinese restaurants in many states. But they are the only one I would suggest. I wish all the Chinese restaurants were like this.
I've frequented this location a couple of times over several years. From my understanding ownership has changed which is reflected in the quality of food which has diminished. My daughter and I stopped in for a quick dinner. We asked the waitress what was included with the meal and she told us rice was included we asked if we could substitute fried rice she said yes. Our meals came with fried rice and we were charged for it. That would not have been a big deal had she informed us, additionally she argued with me that she did not tell us this. Will not go back
My family and I tried New Empire for the fist time tonight and it was AMAZING. We ordered Gen Tso, shrimp fried rice, crispy beef, beef lo main, squid in black bean curd sauce, pork egg rolls, and egg drop soup as well as two rum Buddha cocktails that were fireee. Literally everything was on point, a little pricier than some other places but well worth it honestly. 10/10 would recommend and 10/10 will be going back. Absolute.freaking.fire. Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian options on the menu Kid-friendliness: Had booster seats and high chairs, staff was friendly with my 3 kids Parking: Ample parking
Hubby and I usually share and the lunch portion sweet and sour chicken was adequate, considering it came with wonton soup and fried rice. We liked it and will return as it's the best we have found in this area.
Really gross, shocked there are so many great reviews tbh, when you walk in you see about 7 giant koi fish trapped in a dirty tank, very sad.. toilets don’t work. Meal was just awful. Tried the the yellow sauce given with the egg roll & i couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth fast enough.
I saw the warning signs when I walked in the door, but went in anyway. I wanted to sit at the bar but it was fully occupied. The young man tried to seat me by a table with four including 2 kids and there were only two other tables occupied in the place. I asked to sit away from the other people and he complied. Then he gave me water and a menu and said “it’s gonna be a while because we are eating dinner.” Who doesn’t put paying customers first, or if not, who tells them to their face they aren’t important? I thought about walking out right then but I was hungry for Chinese and waited for a couple of minutes for the waitress to come by and take my order. The bar was full because the employees were sitting at it and eating. The food came quickly with a large portion, but It was absolutely the worst lo mein I’ve ever had. It was made with skinny, kinky ramen noodles, few vegetables carrots, peas, mushrooms only and an inedible sauce. I’ve had lo mein at a number of restaurants but never one made with skinny ramen noodles. The waitress did offer to make something else when I told her I didn’t like it, but if you can’t make a good lo mein can you make anything else? I ate the few vegetables and ate at chilis across the street.
Liked New Empire 1st visit. Huge menu selection. Will be back to sample the entire menu
I used to eat at the New Empire frequently but the last few times it has been disappointing, I thought I’d try it again but it seemed like it’s even worse then the last few times that I was there. The food was bland and the egg foo young had fat in it. It was a waste of money VERY DISAPPOINTED.
