Nelson Elementary School

The "classrooms" are just furniture separating the "rooms", at least where my kindergartener and first grader were put. So there are a lot of distractions from next door classes. They are teaching one level below the grade they are supposed to be teaching. They sent my son through the school on his own the very first day of school, when he had not yet learned the layout of the place, and he got lost. He wound up outside before we found him, and he could have easily left the school grounds in his confusion. They also leave children unattended at breakfast time. I have actually seen children decide not to eat breakfast and leave the premises with no one to stop them, and my son said that after breakfast, they are sent outside the school on their own to wait outside of the door that they enter when you take them after breakfast. Just a garbage school. They should be ashamed of themselves. The children are not safe.

Really dirty school. Most of the classroom aren't evan real rooms just a bunch of shelves put together in the library. All of the "classrooms" are really small with barely just enough space for desks.did not like my visit to this school

My husband James Hobbs has a lot of wonderful memories when he went here as a child. He's actually getting ready to take a trip back to Rockford and take a tour of the old building from 1909 before they demolish it.

All Rockford public schools in general are the worst. My son has only been at Nelson one year & they don't seem to give a crap about anything but making sure he's there. I see no improvement from last year. I really wish Rockford schools cared about their education instead of just getting their money for them being there.
