My sister, Janie Jones resided there from 2018 until her passing on Aug. 21, 2024. The PSW's & nursing staff were great. One consistent caregiver, Tanya PSW was particularly good to Janie while on 2North. She took great care on shower days making sure to wash & condition Janie's hair. Tanya was moved to another floor & Janie missed her terribly. Holly presently on maternity leave, Cindy & Glenda also come to mind for their caregiving skills. June RN, Kendra, Chelsie, & Candice charge nurses were very attentive also. The last while Barbara PSW was one who spent some time talking with Janie while she tended to her needs. Lori from housekeeping always brightened Janie's day when she came in to clean/tidy her room. The exercise man she called Honeymoon was great about encouraging Janie to go for a walk & exercise when she was able to. She loved going to crafts, bingo & church services, also getting her nails done. All the staff have been good to Janie. Jennifer, Sandra, Cindy Lou from the front office were also very attentive & helpful. Unfortunately the last nine months were a struggle for my sister after a cancer diagnosis, radiation therapy & all that went with that diagnosis became too much. Thanks so much to all those mentioned & those I didn't mention. Some names escape me but the faces come to mind. Please know you all did the best by her. I am thankful. She is at peace now finally resting easy with her beloved Delano.
Back in 2021 my father Ron Kitchen was placed here due to severe dementia. The staff was wonderful with him. He was always dressed nice and liked the nurses. They called me when there were any issues with him. He was well liked by the nurses. The place was very clean. When he passed in September 2021 I donated his clothes so other residents could use them. The staff sent me a lovely sympathy card. I felt comfort knowing he was cared for by compassionate staff. Well done! Sorry review is late coming.
My aunt has been in this long term care facility for a few weeks and her decline since being admitted has been devastating. We have been in contact several times a week for many years and she has never sounded so distraught and abandoned and indifferent to being alive. I live a few hours away and receive daily phone calls from her and she no longer has a will to live. I have been told by the nursing staff that she has been on a “hunger strike” since Oct 29th and they are asking for my input for her help! Our health care system for the elderly is an absolute disgrace. My aunt’s health has deteriorated immensely since being admitted to Muskoka Shores.
I just want to give my sincerest thanks to both the Executive Director Michelle Sattler and the Director of Care Jessica Geddes. My grandmother had to be sent out to the hospital after a fainting episode. I was both worried and scared as this was not something that had ever happened to her before. Both Michelle and Jessica took time out of their busy days to return my phone calls and to console me as well as give me the most up to date information that was available I was getting the run around at the hospital for answers. I will forever be grateful to them and the support they have shown my grandmother and our family. Thanks so much for making Muskoka Shores such a great place ladies! Keep up the good work!
My Mom was in the Shores for 5 mths. until she died. She had wonderful care, nails done, music to listen to, church, hymn sing, crafts, bingo...she was finally able to get in the tub, thanks to the great staff. She shared a room, and it wasn't a problem. We could talk to them anytime, and they phoned if there was a problem. We would do it again in a minute.
