Story

Musitechnic est un centre de formation montréalais spécialisé depuis 1987 dans l’enregistrement, la production audio et musicale. Notre formation a été élaborée et est enseignée par la nouvelle génération de professionnels actifs de l’industrie de l’audio et de la musique. Nous offrons un accès libre à nos laboratoires et studios dans le cadre des cours ou pour des projets personnels car c’est en pratiquant que l’on devient professionnel !

Musitechnic has been offering sound recording and music production courses since 1987. Our training is driven by professionals active in the industry mentoring the next generation of audio and music professionnals. We provide labs and studios not only for classes but also for personnal projects. We emphasize that one can only become an audio and music pro with practice, and lots of it!

AEC (Attestation d'Études Collégiales) "Techniques de production audio" est reconnue par le Ministère Supérieur de l'Enseignement supérieur, Recherche, Science et Technologie (MSERST) du Québec.
Le programme d'une durée d'un an prépare les étudiants aux techniques de production pour l'ensemble des domaines de l'audio et la musique (réalisation, post-production, sonorisation, audio pour jeu vidéo,...)
Musitechnic est le seul centre de formation certifié Steinberg au Canada.

We offer a one year program that prepares our students for a career in audio with the production techniques used in audio and music (post-production, Live sound, game audio, music production). Musitechnic is the only Steinberg certified training center in Canada.
You graduate from Musitechnic with an A.E.C (Attestation d'Études Collégiales) recognized by Quebec's Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology which has an equivalency both in the US and Europe.

Too many people thinks Musitechnic is only about creating music. In fact, it is about acquiring knowledge of every aspect of a single sound, its effect on the acoustic of the environnement and most importantly; this school prepares you for any kind of jobs related to the audio domain! Every teacher has their own professional background related to your future carrer. Very enjoyable experience, amazing projects and a very good amount of contacts to start your career in audio. The only thing I liked from my experience at this god awful place were the fellow students I met and two of the teachers. All types of personalities, really all around great people. The material that was taught in class could have easily been learned on YouTube. The 17k$ basically buys you the studios for a year (if you book them a month in advance or settle for the under-equipped studios) and you can apply what you learn, which is definitely nice. However the one thing that drove me away from this school are the teachers. Not all of them are bad, in fact I could say around half of them are good teachers and the other half have no training in teaching, have an over-inflated ego and try to teach you how to be professional while they themselves are being unbelievably unprofessional. I received a verbal, extremely agressive and graphic death threat from one of the teachers at this school for being 5 minutes late. He said he would "smash my head against the wall and splatter my brains all over the floor", then proceeded to get up, push me out of the class and kept yelling insults at me while walking me to the secretary's office. When I told the secretary, she said "teachers sometimes get mad". Thinking back to it, I should have definitely pressed charges for battery. Another of the teachers makes it a point in all of his classes to verbally and personally attack you in the wittiest way possible to make the rest of the class laugh, but still manage to hurt you as a person and mask it as a joke. On the flip side, I did meet one of the best teachers in all of my school life so far and I learned a lot from this one particular teacher. He knew how to connect with his students and didn't simply see them as another person he had to deal with until his day was over. In conclusion, I can't, in all honesty, recommend this school. The teachers like to tell you you're making a very important investment, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Save your money and go watch YouTube videos and rent studios for practice. It will end up costing you way less in the long run. P.S.: Watch out for the 5 star reviews on here because most of them are teachers that are trying to inflate the review scores. Funny thing, the teacher that threatened to kill me is one of them.

When I began at Musitechnic I had a good understanding of music but was seriously behind with the technical aspects of audio. Musitechnic taught me the exact skills I was looking for. Without the technical skills I learned during that year I would have never been able to continue to work on music the way I am today. The connections I made both with other students and teachers continues to help me today. I had a great time at Musitechnic and am very happy I took the time and money to spend a year expanding my knowledge of audio.

Musitechnic has been amazing to me and showed me a new path towards my passion... I will definitely recommend this school to anyone who is willing to get there audio senses tingling !! Thanks guys it has been an amazing journey hope to see you guys on the field ;)
