Museum Of Ojibwa Culture
"The Museum of Ojibwa Culture and The Father Marquette Mission Park uncovers the vivid history of life during the 1670s when the Ojibwa, Huron and French lifestyles converged in the historic Upper Peninsula of Michigan...in Saint Ignace, Michigan. When you walk into our building, you are met by our friendly and courteous staff and you are in the midst of our Native store which everything is authnetic 100% USA or Canadian Native made. You can see up close the many many Native and French artifacts from long ago which is a sight to see. You can sit and enjoy the videos we have that either show you how real Ojibwa families live or the popular actual canoe making show that people watch over and over again."

I am so happy my family stopped here. We learned so much about the Ojibwa people and my daughters loved exploring both the exhibits and the grounds. The art area with coloring pages was a big hit! Both video exhibits gave wonderful glimpses into Ojibwa lives. The staff member was absolutely delightful, helpful, courteous and excited to have us there. I especially appreciated that the shop was filled with only Native American made items. Take my money! Give yourself an hour to fully appreciate what this place has to offer. Extra points for a clean bathroom
Very well put together smaller museum. We learned a lot during our short visit, about the lives and traditions of the native culture, but also about the horrible treatment afforded them by our own government. And the long lasting effects it had on their culture. Unfortunately it started raining and we didn't make it outside to view the outdoor exhibits, but we hope to return soon to go inside the longhouse they've built and learn more about the reburial of Pere Marquette. I would highly recommend! A must see. Admission is donation at your own discretion, but anyone who goes should keep in mind the place couldn't do all they do without those donations! Also have a lovely gift shop for some authentic hand made souvenirs too!
EXCELLENT job explaining the culture and history of the Ojibwa, Huron, Odawa, and other local tribes from the area as well as the story of Father Marquette. The gift shop has many nice pieces from local artists too. Entrance fee is by donation, so don’t be jerk and only give a dollar or two. Or at least buy something in the gift shop.
Very cool place, lots of information and artifacts. Found some very nice items in the gift shop. The grave of Fr. Marquette is quite interesting to see too.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

Ojibwa Artisan made items for purchase. History displays are well designed and informative inside a 150 year old church and the final resting place of Father Marquette at the Saint Ignes Mission.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Loved this place. Learned a lot about the history of the area and it’s peoples. Lucky enough to be in town for their POW Wow which was amazing. The Cultural Center runs on donations so bring cash. Or, if you buy something in the gift shop with a card, you can make a donation in addition to your purchase.
So glad we stopped by. It's incredibly educational and very beautiful. I'd also say it's very interactive for kids. Highly recommend!!!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
I love this little museum. This town doesn't have very many things going on since all of the tourist attractions are in the surrounding towns, so this was a nice little addition to the area. my family and I just stopped in while we were walking home from a restaurant, and it was delightful. It's really small inside and a pretty quick walkthrough, but they do have a lot of information and a lot of historical pieces so it was really nice. There's a beautiful fountain and garden outside of the museum as well as some sculptures of historical figures with detailed descriptions. I think this is a great museum to take children to, or anyone who loves history. Michigan has a very nice historical background in this museum gives plenty of the story.
