I read somewhere that the fudge and the pasties were something that you could not pass up when you visited the upper peninsula of Michigan. As we were driving through St Ignace I saw this place and we decided to stop and give it a sample. Generally I'm not a huge fan of very sweet things but I have to tell you the chocolate cherry fudge that they sell here is the most delicious thing ever. It is not incredibly sweet. The lady behind the counter told me that the darker colored fudges are not as sweet and the lighter you go in color the sweeter they are. Later on we bought another packet of the turtle flavor. Very delicious about $12 a box but they had a sale going on while we were there if you buy a certain number you got a certain number of them free. I don't recall what it was cuz we did not partake in the sale. I highly recommend this fudge it is so ridiculously good. The balance of flavor is there and it is not slap your face sweet. You will enjoy it
Update: I have been given a refund. I feel that there are a lot of good reviews for this company and believe if you are thinking of ordering, give them a try. Everyone has an off day. I ordered from the website based on a Google article about how good they are. We received our order quickly and we were very excited. It tasted as though it was old and had an odd smell. We were unable to eat it. I contacted them to see about returning it.
OMG - Best Fudge Ever! My favorite is the Maple Burbon Pecan. You should NEVER go to St. Ignace without stopping by Original Murdick's Fudge. Oh yeah... the Cashew Brittle is pretty awesome too!
Very quaint candy shoppe with an old fashioned feel. Employees were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and knew their fudge!!
Visited a few days ago on the way back from the UP. Delicious fudge, friendly helpful staff, clean shop, fast service. When paying by card, machine is set up to ask for tips- 15% and up. Decided not to tip for simple packing pre-wrapped fudge into a box. When staff stated they didn't receive the tips from credit card payments, I was mortified. Do better by your wonderful team.
Fell in love with the chocolate cherry in Traverse City, and have made it a point to hit as many Murdicks as possible during our trip. Bringing back a box-full to share with family.
We went there to get ice cream. They might have good fudge, but I wouldn't know. I go elsewhere to get fudge.
Extremely disappointed. Ordered a box of fudge. We got the wrong order with the incorrect flavors. The flavors that were sent were not fresh at all, it was dry, gritty, and hard on the outside.
The best fudge in Michigan with the most flavors! Great specials to, buy 3 get 2 free! Spend $40 get a bomb tote bag! Staff very friendly and I came back the next day because I forgot to get my fudge wrapped individually in boxes for gifts I was purchasing for family and friends and she gave me some boxes so I could do that! Murdicks in St.Ignance will be our go to fudge shop for future visits
*Update* My originally review stands as to the location itself, but the company sent a replacement via mail, quickly and kindly. Thank you for doing right by us after the incident! The absolute RUDEST staff. No one even responded to us when we walked in. I asked if they were open, as they continued to ignore us, and one of the women behind the counters said, “yeah.” I asked if I could get a sample, she said no not now. My dad went on to order, after I was thoroughly turned off by her continued attitude, and she wrapped all of the fudge in one box instead of separate ones - needless to say they dried out right away, $40 later. Seriously, they didn’t even deserve our business. The rest of our group went to the chocolate shop down a few doors where they were nice. I really can’t recommend this place less.
