What is the purpose of making something like a giant statue of a mudcat? To make your town memorable and distinct from the other small towns around it. Mission accomplished. Don't hate on Muddy... he never hurt anyone and he give the town that flair it needs to be remembered.
Love stopping at Muddy for a photo-op and walk about
Was there a week ago with kids, the playground behind the main building is pretty good. Also they have other activities like a skate park, tennis court and a basketball square
The sculpture of muddy the catfish was big and easy to find. There is a picnic area with outhouse available. There is even a small walk around to see nature in the park. Inside the gazebo picnic area there are pictures of the local animals you might see, funfor kids to see and find the animals in the park.
Nice nature area, beautiful town
Something different to look at.
Very nice little park was able to fish caught several big fish, crappie , Bass , catfish . Perch have bluegill. Danville is a nice town with nice people and all amenities. Worth the visit.
Muddy and I go way back; before he was this big and before he was a statue. Muddy used to go by the name Charles and had a mean fly-fishing kit before he and I ventured into the Mystical Selkirk Troll Caverns. We were looking for treasure... the rumors were too real to not be true. We delved deeper and deeper until we heard a voice mumbling. It was rasp with a hint of a Mexican flare. Suddenly Charles removed a rock from the darkness to reveal a pair of glowing eyes. "Yo Essay" the voice exclaimed. "I will only let one of you leave with your life unless you can answer skill testing question: 1 + 2 × 4 - 14 ÷ 7". Charles was no mathematician and shouted out "9" which was close but not close enough. Charles' penalty was to be turned into a giant statue in the form of a fish he loathed. The troll was deported by immigration agents shortly after but the damage was already done. Respect Charles, respect Muddy... he invented sushi.
Fun stop for a quick picture.
Great for quick visit but trail around Lake was still pretty wet
